...why do we have a blindspot in each of our eyes? I'd think God would make us without such flaws.

Elephants have trunks, etc because they are beneficial to them and help them survive. How does a blind spot help us survive?

Why do elephants have trunks?

Why do giraffes have such long necks?

These types of questions could go on and on.

To ask is almost pointless.

To questioner:
The simple answer is, every animal has a flaw in it's design. Every created thing has limitations even angels, that is part of being limited...

You're overlooking the fact that we even have eyes to see with - so be thankful for that. some people are born totally blind... don't you think you're one up from them? The blind spot is a part of the eye that is almost imperceptible, so why make it into an issue? It obviously has a purpose and you can problem enlighten us all as to what that purpose is. Intellectualizing about such silly things gets you no where and accomplishes nothing.

Also the fact that the retina is wired up backwards, because light has to pass through the blood vessels before it gets to the neuroreceptors. No truly "intelligent designer" would ever create that....certainly no intelligent human designing an eye would make it so inefficient.

If it were the other way around, humans would have visual capabilities similar to eagles, and we wouldn't have the problem of retinal detachment. The explanation that DOES explain why that might be is cumulative adaptation via natural selection. An eye with light having to pass through a haze of blood vessels is better than no eye at all, and confers a selection advantage.

FYI.....the eye, in totally different versions, has evolved independently at least 40 times. Each of these too has little inefficiencies and incongruities that really, in my mind, are the biggest evidence for evolution.

It is humourous, and instructive, to read the twisted logic of the IDiots trying to explain the mistakes god made.

Too bad adyghe can't understand the difference between an animal having something good, adaptive for their species (like girafees have long necks to reach foods in trees) and for something like a blindspot that is completely useless.

Think about how technology gives us wonderful things like digital cameras, yet still cannot produce anything as advanced as the human eye. Do you really think such a biological miracle was the result of random events?

Why would God make us flawless? How do you define flaw? Who is to say that is a flaw?

Perhaps our eyes aren't perfect so that we can experience our other magnificent senses. Perhaps the eyes should not be viewed alone but rather an integral part of the whole.

You mean the blindspot at the back of the eyes? lol

we are flawed, because god is flawed. man made god in his own image, therefore it is flawed to human limits.

rage, revenge, war, these are human weaknesses, not an omnipotent god. see through the crap. it is made by people wanting your money. the church has tax free exemption.

as for the post after this... angels? perfect? well what happened to Lucifer then? fell from grace... surely a perfect being would never fall.

you suckers. send no money now...

When you are the Supreme Being, I imagine you have to come up with your own entertainment. How boring for God to make us all perfect! what would be the purpose of that? there is a battle going on between good and evil ... we are required to choose a side ... we have to prove ourselves worthy of the prize
If we are created in His image, He needs us as much as we need Him, right? Play along! :-)

Simple, blind spots are not flaws, they are reasons of concentration, how would life will be if you can see sharply every ray of light that passes throw your eye?!

Not everything are as they seem to be.

saxquiz,
He did make us sinless, but with freewill. Now that sin, that is: the nature of sin, has entered the race of man, we are not perfect. And since perfection is necessary to become one of God's children again, Jesus came and provided that perfection. Our spirits are considered clean by God through faith, though our flesh is still sinful. We are regarded as being eternally His, because of what Jesus did.

That's why it says in the scriptures, " Seek the kingdom first. . ." You must be in faith, that is: the heart turns away from the self, to God, for the righteousness provided by God.

So this flawed Christian is a Christian because of faith in Him who died and rose again.
