to say "you are going to hell" is judging and making you act like god. Would that make the person saying that go to hell?

i don't think it is such a sin that it would make you go to hell, but we are not supposed to judge others...that is left to God

I agree with you and it applies on muslims too. Some muslims go around judging people and telling them they would go to hell because they are not muslims as if being a muslim is a pass out of hell! This is not what Islam teaches us. We are no Gods to judge or decide who goes where. Everyone should mind their own business, follow the teachings of their religion whatever it is and treat other people decently. If one has a piece of advice, they need either to say it politely or keep it to themselves.

Peace be upon you all.

Romans 2
God's Righteous Judgment
1You, therefore, have no excuse, you who pass judgment on someone else, for at whatever point you judge the other, you are condemning yourself, because you who pass judgment do the same things.

I have read all the answers but I think this scripture says it all, I like it in the message bible better,

Romans 2
God Is Kind, but Not Soft
1-2 Those people are on a dark spiral downward. But if you think that leaves you on the high ground where you can point your finger at others, think again. Every time you criticize someone, you condemn yourself. It takes one to know one. Judgmental criticism of others is a well-known way of escaping detection in your own crimes and misdemeanors. But God isn't so easily diverted. He sees right through all such smoke screens and holds you to what you've done.

Cool right.....

Anyone who dies without accepting Jesus as their Lord and Savior will go to hell, where they will stay until the Day of Judgement. At that time, when God judges them and finds them guilty, they will be cast into the Lake of Fire.

I'm not judging. I'm quoting God's Word.

Because I love you enough to tell you the Truth of God's Word.

Mathew 7:1-2
1"Do not judge, or you too will be judged. 2For in the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you."

Also...

Matthew 5:22

22But I tell you that anyone who is angry with his brother will be subject to judgment. Again, anyone who says to his brother, 'Raca,' is answerable to the Sanhedrin. But anyone who says, 'You fool!' will be in danger of the fire of hell.

Most theologians would use these passages to answer your question. Using the phrase "you fool" implied that you weren't saved and going to hell. Thus telling someone else, or judging whether or not someone is going to hell, is a sin. Only God can make that judgment.

Every religion I'm aware of says that you should not reveal the shortcomings, or judge, other people *unless* it is done with compassion.

This is of course a difficult thing for people to live up to all of the time, but is an extremely important 'spiritual' (more 'psychological' if you're a Buddhist) concept.

Instead of judging Christians on this topic, maybe you could try it yourself?

"Judge not lest you be judged." Well if I were to say that a person who tells another person they're going to Hell is going to Hell by saying that, I would be doing the exact same thing! So no, we can't know whether or not that person is damned for what they're doing, but we can say that it contradicts Biblical teachings.

It's condemning. And those who do it, condemn others based on very little information, usually finding something in the other person they don't like and they turn to the Bible to justify their dislike or hatred of it. As if condemning it will force the other person to change their ways to fit their view of what a "good" person should be.

judging is a sin but you are going to hell if you dont repent for all your sins and ask God for forgivenes, that is a fact.

I wouldn't be sending anyone to hell by telling them they are going to hell, I would just be pointing out that if what they put their trust and allegiance in does not absolve them of sin, the according to the Bible, they are still in sin and are bound for hell. But I would point out to them that there is a way out, by choosing to follow Christ and not themselves. And I would hope that they would choose His way.
