We are using a version of the old Roman calendar. They used to have 10 months until the emperors Julius and Augustus added months in their honor.

The number one god for the Romans was Janus, and the first month was named in his honor.

Sep, Oct, Non and Dec were the numbers 7, 8, 9 and 10. That is how they got September, October, November and December.

;-D Other months were also named in honor of gods, such as April was named in honor of Aprilia, the goddess of new growth. Mars was named in honor of Mars the god of war.
