Windows Vista is the new Microsoft windows. (Formerly Coded: Longhorn)

The final edition of Vista is coming next year (about the beginning of the year). But "The final major pre-release of Windows Vista—Release Candidate 1 (RC1)—is now available" to some users only.

The improvements in windows Vista (over Win XP) are compared to the improvement of Win XP over Win 98, including the user interface, graphics rendering, system utilization (including battery consumption of laptops), and I heard there will a totally new file system.

Vista and Longhorn are new versions of Windows that are coming.

I am sure like all past windows versions it will have bugs and issues. XP uses are on update 2.

Just another way for Microsoft to make more money....windows 98 still works for all one needs.

I'm testing it right now.

It's still in testing; so, no comment.

The scheduled release is in Jan next year.
