I noticed something interesting while reading the bible. Christ doesn't really ever go on about homosexuality, abortion, or war against terror. Jesus seemed to care about things like helping the poor, and loving thy neighbor, so why are these the last things on the Christian Right's minds??

BeReal: Really? I missed the part with Jesus's rant about gays and abortion? Hmm....Guess I was caught up in all the helping of the less fortunate that he did??

Read it again and pray for understanding?? It's not hard to understand that jesus cared more about helping others than persecuting gays. Or did you mean read it again and pray to be filled with bigotry?

Jesus is neither Republican OR Democrat. In fact, He should tick off both parties more than seems to be happening, but the two parties are so busy claiming Him for themselves that they don't stop to think that Jesus has no use for politics as a means to an end. I'm working on a project that will illustrate the fact that Jesus is neither a Republican or a Democrat. See the first link below.

TJReamer: If being pro-life is bad, then I'm sorry that your Social Security is screwed since we've aborted 40 million would-be taxpayers since 1973 who would otherwise be paying into the system. And being pro-life is not a partisan issue: I'm pro-life and I'm a Democrat. And I resent the fact that my Social Security is screwed because of the genocide of unborn taxpayers.

in the old testament punishment for the sin of homosexuality is death by stoning. When Jesus died for the sins of Humanity that changed those kind of Biblical laws , instead of people worrying about other peoples sins a Christian is to let God deal with sinners.

abortion is snuffing out an Innocent Human Life and that is just plan wrong.

it looks like you are doing some selective reading in order to try to use the Bible to trash other people.

people fight for their lives and to protect their civilization and culture all through the bible , may be you should take a look at your self before accusing other people of being self-righteous.

It's not the last thing on the mind of this Christian. LOL! ha ha. I really love to help others and i've set up charity funds that I donate to the red cross at school before. I'm only 15! But there is sooo much to be done. It's never to early to start!!! Just to answer your gay or abortion question, Ireally don't stand for that stuff, but they're not my utmost priorities. I think its wrong to have an abortion, but I won't hate a person forever for getting one. And honestly, people who do those things are human to!!! I agree that we Christians should show more tolerance and love to help them change. Not ban them from our inner circle because they sinned! Jesus wanted us to help sinners! Well, thanks for a great question to answer. God Bless!!

I think it's because Christians believe in not just Jesus alone, but all that is written in the Bible....between both the Old and New Testaments those things are mentioned in one way or another. Christians believe in Jesus but they also believe in things that happened before he came, like the Ten Commandments, the Flood, etc. Jews also believe in these things and would also, from a religious persective, be against the above things you mentioned because they believe in what the Christians call the "Old Testament'.

Good question.

This is the part where the prolife homophobes will start to cherry pick verses out of the old testament that would seem to support their views. At other times they will tell you that is "the old law" that was replaced by Jesus dying on the cross, and almost nobody worries about the "abomination" of eating shellfish, or murders their children for insolence anymore.

Just goes to show that the bible is written by men, and interpreted by men. It can be used to prove any nasty thing man decides he wants to prove, as well as it's opposite. Isn't religion wonderful?

Read it again. You missed alot, stick to the Gospels if you want to know specifically Jesus words, the rest of the Bible re reinforces what Jesus said Himself in the Gospels. Read the Bible with a concordance, if that helps you and ask God to fill you with His Holy Spirit so you can understand it.

Bingo. They managed to find reasons why God/Jesus was against interracial marriage, and desegration too. This is just the next generation and they have to have something to act self-righteous about or they aren't happy.

they are not Jews because Jew's do not believe the messiah has come yet. they don't believe Jesus so believing in Jesus and saying your Jewish obviously contradicts one yet another.... that's unhappy that there are those Evangelist Christians that call themselves "Jews". quit this practice now, your disgracing both Judaism and Christianity.
