Is it because temperature effects atoms or molecules? For example: The north atlantic looks gray or a dark browish blue. Near the equator, the water is light turqouise, or some where near that color.

the molecules of cold water r closely bound and it also contain some dissolved minerals which increase the density of water as result it look dark in color on heating the molecules of water ger apart and dissolved minrals settled down and the color of the water become light

becuse when water is cold its atoms are closely bound together while when it is heated they get separated by some distance which is so samall hence the diffrence .....
