You can't pick where you lose weight from. You lose weight from the top of your body down. So diet and do cardio. THEN, do abdominal exercises to build muscle. But, without the cardio, you'll just have a muscular stomach underneath a whole bunch of fat.

I would do crunches and I would go for fast walks, can take baby with you in baby carriage. walking fast burns off fat and doing crunches helps to restore the muscle structure. I had my daughter 16 years ago, and I still didn't lose my tummy, sometimes it is a life long battle and maybe easier to have tummy tuck.

I had tons of stitches after my daughter was born so I couldn't do any of the prescribed excercises, but I did walk a lot and worked in my garden and painted the house from the outside.

To lose weight you have to do aerobic activity: like walking, running, swimming, riding a stationary bike, going on a stair master. At the same time you might want to cut down on some calories, try to avoid sweets chocolates, cakes, alcohol, and if you avoid salt, the pounds melt faster. Drink a lot of water, eat more vegetables and fruits.

You might want to consider joining a gym, to firm up all your muscles, inner and outer thighs, firm up arms, tone legs, however, you have to do minimum 30 minutes aerobic activity a day or as often as possible. mermaid 119

I was told to spend as much time as possible lying on my tummy reading a book, painting my nails, anything as long as I was propped up on my tummy.
I don't know if it was an old wive's tale, if I have great recouperative powers, or if it was the real thing, but my tummy disappeared quicker than anyone elses.
Also, when hanging out your laundry, don't grab a handful of pegs..take one peg at a time, and bend down for every next one..you'll be exercising without even knowing it!

Of course, none of this advice is useful if you had a ceasarian..you'll just have to be patient for that.

Good luck!

Looks like we are in the same shrimp boat Forrest. Any way I'm wondering what is the fastest way without taking the diet pills and starving yourself. I've been working out and not eating after 9p.m. I keep having to tell myself that it is not gonna happen overnight so I won't get discouraged. To each its own though. I wish you luck and stay positive and focus on the reward. Congratulations!!!!

i have heard the best way to exercise the stomach...no crunches...standing lifting..nothing you can do it laying down if you like...First flex your stomach muscles ..like you were going to get hit....do that and hold tight as you can for 15/20 second...to start...any longer you could get a cramp , the more you do it t he longer you can start to hold
do ten reps...at 15/20 seconds
and as often as you like ...but i heard do that at least 10 times a day for 6 days ...take a day off and do it again. That strengthen the muscles without all the strenuous stuff....

do a few sit ups every day and slowly increase to more and more every day. I find if you write down what you will eat every day and how much excersise you do this helps alot because it makes you accountable for everything that you do.

Do some exercise (especially situps) every day. You don't have to do a lot, but you do have to be consistent. And, monitor your calorie intake (which will, of course, be higher if you are nursing).
