That's ironic GREATNESS! The word "confidence" followed by a QUESTION MARK! Brilliant! A graphic oxymoron! Brava!
Want confidence? Be confident of your own worth. Hell, these girls can talk to YOU. And if they don't?
Their loss.

If your talking to a girl and lack confidence, try engaging in a discussion about something your passionate at. Get her involved. I find that if im talking with someone about something I either know a great deal of or am passionate about, the words flow so much easier.
Aside from that, yeah practice makes perfect. Something you can do everyday is compliment 10 total strangers everyday. Just go up to someone and say something nice to them. You can just leave and they'll be there with a smile on their face or if you feel like it engage in a conversation. Do this everyday.

I think that skill will come with age and life experience, but in the mean time you can make sure that you have nothing, no reason to be nervous while talking to girls. You can ensure that you're presentable, fresh breath, clean clothes, no unpleasant smell, etc etc. When talking to them get another boy to join in conversation as well, you can avoid those awkward silence and your friend can go after you give him the " go away signal". just ask open questions, girls like to talk anyway so they will ask you back, so you don't have to think of what to say, just listen to their answers or questions and respond accordingly.

What I do, and I still get nervous, is practice in front of a mirror. Remember just be yourself. Confidence comes with age. Most people are as nervous as you anyway.

Take a breath, calm down, get ahold of yourself. Be yourself. Just remind yourself while you're talking that you're slick and suave, whether you are or not. Believe in yourself. Put on a smile and tell a joke. Good luck!

experience is the only cure dude.
you will get less nervous, and more confident with age and interactions.
we were all like that, then one day, sweeeeeeeetness and smooth talking.
the road is long, but the goal is worthwhile
