I have a new boyfriend who is so cute and sweet. Most of my family doesn't think it will work because he just went in the military. Why can't they just be happy for me and wish us the best?

they are most likely worried about you because you have been with him and now he has left to go the military. i dont know how old you are or how long you have been with him but im a parent and i can see what they are thinking. alot of things can happen when you are away from someone for a long time. if its real love then you will know it. just sit back and show them that he is the one for you and it will work. hope this helps some.

Deep down they probably are happy for you,they are just thinking how long distance relationships can possibly be or turn out.You are their main concern and only your happiness is what they want.Just because they don't jump up and down over this,doesn't mean that they are against this relationship either.Give them time to adjust to the ideal of you dating a military man,in time they will grow to the level about him as you are right now.Try not to be so hard on your family,they really think that they are meaning well for you,but like i said in time they will all see.Hang in there and just listen to the advice,it doesn't mean that you have to take the advice,right?You follow your heart and be happy!Best wishes and Good Luck to you both!

you said he was a new boyfriend .how long have you all been together? military does change men and women,he may not be the same person when he gets back.my hubby is in the military ,just finished basic training and AIT and just returned home.he has changed some he has been gone so long its hard for us to find things to talk about.we have been together 15yrs though and have three kids,which may be the difference between you and i .your family might just not want you to get hurt if he has to go to the sands.did they give you reasons of why they think it wont work out? just trust your heart and be there for your man.if you are a person who has a hard time trusting people a military man may not be for you ..just search your heart. good luck to you and your new man.

I guess you've got to look at the situation with a cool head here. Communication is key and you might want to sit them down to find out what they're seeing that you're not. Falling in love is great but don't let that blind you.
They might bring up some points that you might not see, but instead of going on the offense or defense, just sit back and calmly rationalise if they're making any sense there. Try and see things from another angle or from their point of view. You might end up agreeing with them......or....if you see the points they're making and after a lot of thought, still feel just as strongly abt your guy, then it's up to you to make a stand for what's in your heart

Worry it might he can't comeback to you.military guy is so susiptible to danger death and physical retardation,thats why they not happy with you with your military boyfriend.

You don't say how old you are, so I'll assume you're very young.
It's probably because they are worried that he'll get shipped off to Iraq or Afghanistan. If something horrible happens to him, they don't want to see you shattered and grief-stricken.
They are just watching out for you and don't want to see you get hurt.
