You have to do a process of elimination. When you hair is wet are you brushing it? Only use a wide toothed comb when wet. Hair is at it's weakest when wet. Are you pulling it back in a pony when wet? Dry it first then pull it back and not as tight. If you are using any kind of metal brush or comb ...stop! Go buy a boar bristle brush if you are going to dry it with a brush. Round ones are great! Go to a stylist you like and both are on the same page with the growth. You should get a good healthy ( 3-5 inches) cut at first so you have a good start. Then get what I call teaspoon cuts. No more than a 1/4 inch every 4-6 weeks without fail. You will see in some time that your hair will grow and it will be nice and healthy. But first you have to find the culprit! Good luck and God bless!

Keeping the ends trimmed every 6-8 weeks helps to prevent the hair from splitting and weakening on up the hair. That happens if you just try to grow your hair without trimming. Use a good leave in repair solution on damp hair.
Keep your hair in a loose pony tail while you sleep.

When you wash you're hair don't use a brush, use a comb, if you put you're hair up in a ponytail, don't try to put in a bun like the other girls and have the little peices sticking out real cool, breaks them off 10 times worse...Which was my problem, and I solved my problem by going and getting my hair layered. Took my problems away.

Don't always think that hair breaking off is a bad thing. You might look very pretty with broken hair. Just imagine, starting a new season.

Sometimes systemic things such as having undergone general anesthesia or other medical treatments can affect your hair. Other things are over processing or using products not compatible with your hair. Sun and wind exposure can damage your hair. Sometimes missing nutrients in your diet can affect your hair. Go to a cosmetologist to see if you can get treatment for your hair. Also talk with your physician at your next visit and see if he or she can recommend vitamins or supplements that might be helpful to you.
