Both! I have a cookbook my mom handwrote for me of all our family's recipes she made while we were growing up - I refer to that frequently, but I also love to try new recipes.

Both. My mom and grandmother were Southern cooks, so I fix a lot of the same meals that they did. But I also love to experiment with new ideas and recipes, and I try at least one new thing a week.
That way, I have the best of all worlds. And, at the end of the year, I know 52 more things that I like or dislike!

Mostly I do both but I started out as a Meat Eater and later became a Vegetarian around 1980 or a tad earlier.. I went to the local A&P Mart and the cheapest weiners were over $2.00 a package. Then and there I decided at that price I decided to become a vegetarian. I got into cooking in a big way and found I enjoyed it. It's easy to adapt most meat dishes to veggy dishes.. my favourite mix for that is
pumpkin, cereal, soya sauce and diced onion if
desired! can make a fake meat loaf or veggy burgers, or fake meat balls for spagetti! They looked so real a vegetarian friend of mine didn't
believe they were fake. I had to show Cathy P how to make them so she'd believe me. U know why I didn't give U her full last name!

Stick to your traditional cooking 80% of the time and introduce new recipes gradually. Allow the new ones to get familiar with system enough to count them as tradition and then introduce further new recipes. This way you will avoid complicating your food regimen and never regret trying those exotic new foods from places recently visited or obtained from well meaning close friends and relatives.
Food experiments shoulld never be causes for regret.

I do both. Most of my mom's stuff I've modified to make a bit healthier (Hoosier cooking is not known for being low-fat). Sometimes, though, I just get a craving for what I call kid-food--and my boyfriend always loves when I cook that stuff.

I go all out, all the time, always new recipes I find on-line or newly bought cook books & if we love it, we repeat it over and over & sometimes we get creative and revise it.

a little of both. I have some recipes from my mom that are nostalgic but mostly I cook my own.

BOTH! Don't turn your back on the foods you grew up on.....but do also experiment with other cultural foods because eating should be a different experience each day. LOVE YOUR FOOD
and eat sensibly. YUM-O

There are a few new dishes that we try from time to time, otherwise, it's a choice of the healthier foods we grew up with.
