Are you experiencing a little more empathy toward the atheists who have endured your evangelizing?

I don't like anyone trying to force anything upon me, even the member of my own religion. I believe what I believe and until I meet my Maker there is no one that is going to tell me I am wrong. I will answer to God and no one else.

First how typical that you make the blanket statement that every Christian has tried to convert an atheist. It's not problem whether you believe in God or not....one of will be surprised now won't we?

As for Muslims trying to convert me? I lived in the middle east for 2 years and not once was I ever approached about converting to Islam. Even though their Religion of Peace (Qu'ran) calls for me and all infidels (non-believers so that includes you) to either convert or die.

I did however discuss religion and that at the end of the day there is only one God, Allah, Supreme Being, Great Spirit, etc. and it is the same person or Deity. And before I spoke with Siad, one of the guys I shared a corporate apartment with before I went to live in Iraq, I didn't know that Jesus was in the Qur'an....as a revered prophet as Muslims don't believe that God has a son.

And oddly enough most of the Muslims were more interested in discussing my religion once I told them I am LDS; Mormon as most people call it. They could empathize with the percecution that the members of or church endured...the only religion where it's members in the US actually where the Govenor of a certain state passed an edict to shoot Mormans on sight. The Muslims were shocked to hear this since we stress religious freedom.

So no, the Muslims I met and worked with never tried to convert each to the others religion.Of course...if a Muslim denounces Islam and converts to any other Infidel religion...or joins the ranks of the Infidel Atheists..they are condemed to death. I guess they don't remain a Muslim based on faith alone.

By the way, if you would like one of our missionaries to come visit you just dial 1-800-JUST - KIDDING.

As we say over in the middle east...

Asslamu Alaikum
(Peace Be Upon You)

I've neva seen ne muslim converting ne one to islam forcefully. nor they've been told to do so. After 9/11 muslims were not out there to preach non-muslims but still Islam is the fastest growing religion in USA specially after 9/11.
But i did see so many times christian preachers preaching on your way to school or work, in high streets.
I wud say just study & think before making any opinion.

Muslims haven't being trying to convert. Atheist have tried. I don't try to convert those who have been given over to a reprobate mind because these people are lost cause. I only help those who are truly searching.

No atheist has endured any evangelizing from me - except our questions and answers here.

And as for Islamic people trying to convert me, come ahead - it won't work. Like atheists, they neither threaten nor interest me.

a few days back ........ there was a law that was established in India against Christian missionaries. they would either bribe the poor tribes or put the fear of Hell and death in them -- for one reason -- converting them to christianity. do u know that when St.Thomas went to India years back, what happened to him?. shoving one;'s faith through someone's throat isnt a good and religious thing to do -- be it a muslim, christian, jew, hindu, jain, buddhist, etc.

also in Islam, one cannot force others into conversion. it is Prohibited to do so. only a person who really studied Islam can enter Islam only if they accept it whole-heartedly.

Intellectually: there is no comparison.

Emotionally: strongly. I dislike the idea of trying to convert anybody who has not asked to be spoken to. Religion is a sensitive subject at the best of times. Masquerading propagandists (first reply) are nearly as annoying as their flesh and blood counterparts. In response: Jesus is refered to as the Word, and the Word is identified with God....He spoke with God and refered to Him as Father.

It doesn't bother me at all. I know where they are coming from. Regardless, I stand firm in Jesus Christ who strengthens me.

The difference with Islam's "conversion technique" is that they have been given permission by their founder, Mohammed, to lop off my 'infidel' head if I continue to refuse Islam.

My Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ never forced anyone to choose Him. Instead, He shared and then left everyone to their God-given free will to choose Him or deny Him.

As his follower, I am called to do the same. No forced conversions from this CHRIST-ian. That just wouldn't be Christlike now would it?

I thank the Lord for the opportunity to tell them the truth about Jesus and I pray for them. I'm always happy when the Lord sends someone my way so that I can be a witness for Him here on earth.

Well I guess we could both go over to their country and find out how we would both die. I would be stoned to death, because I wouldn't believe in Mohammad's God Allah. And you would be stoned to death because you just don't believe in either. At least over here you have a choice to believe how ever you want to believe, and no one is gonna FORCE you to believe in anything you don't want to. Now how do you feel?
