I really mean it. How come it is always brides and grooms featured with the brides $40K dress and $1000 shoes. 90% of brides can't afford that kind of get up. Why don't they get realistic married couples with simplicity?

the idea is to get you to dream big, and buy their products--sell, sell, sell.. if you saw a bride wearing a simple K-mart dress and stepping out of a ford escort, it probably would not entice you to buy the magazine or wish for that to be you on your wedding day, on the other hand, if you see a person coming out of a limo, wearing a beautiful lacy gown, standing by a waterfall, you would probably want to see more, buy the silly little magazine, and have visions of all the lavish things you want at YOUR wedding--get it?

ps. wanna start a magazine together, "Beautiful Brides on a Shoestring Budget"?

Because budget brides don't married? Seriously, I have to agree with you. They publish those grandiose ideas because they aren't aimed for the average person. The wedding industry is all about scamming brides and their families for everything they're worth. That's why anything with the word "wedding" attached is 10x more expensive and poorer quality than the same thing found elsewhere that doesn't have the word "wedding" on it. And in America, the theory is "bigger and more expensive is always better" when that is not the truth.

Most people I have talked to say that the nicest and best weddings are the budget weddings where the couple didn't spend their life savings just for one day but you could tell they were happy by how they carried themselves.

Unless someone gets the idea and publishes a budget brides magazine, it's probably not going to happen otherwise. Most brides don't have options so they aren't aware that they are supposed to negotiate and shop around for a much more reasonable price on things. And the majority of vendors brainwash them into thinking that if they don't have (insert crazy expensive frivolous item or service) like every other bride, then their wedding will be a disaster.

As far as simplicity with dresses for example, I have to roll my eyes when they all say that the simple, no-adornment fashions are twice as expensive as the fully decorated ones, which makes no sense whatsoever.

What? You mean they let those kinds of people get married?? That should just be outlawed!

I actually completely understand you on this. I am a college student trying to plan a wedding on a very strict budget. They basically show fairy tale weddings in bridal magazines because that is what we wish we could have, and they think that by showing us that it is possible for some people, we will go into extreme debt to make sure we get to do the same thing.

i feel the same way. and also they need a plus size bridal mag. since not all brides are a size 2. it is really hard to picture what the dress will look like when the girl in the mag wearing it is no bigger than your thigh.lol
maybe someone should come up with a bridal mag and call it " Po-Bride" , i would buy it

Follow the money. It's a lot easier to make money selling a $5K dress than it is a $500 dress... and pages in the bridal mags are expensive. They have to sell a lot fewer dresses to pay for that ad when they cost that much.

Regional and local wedding-related magazines tend to be a bit more egalitarian, featuring vendors that are within the budget of a wider range of weddings.

Good luck in your search and, I presume, your upcoming wedding!

Like Vogue, or Cosmo, they are high fashion magazines catering to top notch designers. Its incredibly expenisve to run ads in thoe tyype of magazines and to be able to afford it you must be a successful designer or shop. I find that those magazines are great for ideas! I cut out pics of hair styles and flowers and decor that I like and find practical vendors in my area that can immitate the pictures. Most of what you pay for in a designer gown is the name. You can take a picture of a dress you love to a dress shop in town and have them take your measurements and make a very similar gown for you for less than half the price. Buy them for the ideas and the looks. Shop Barnes and Nobles and Borders in the Wedding section for great money saving books. I have saved a lot of money doing research and making several local calls to businesses that I found in the yellow pages. I am having a 250 guests wedding for under 10,000 for the whole thing right down to the garters. Its all time and money management. The more time you allow the more money you will save. Look in your yellow pages under party, wedding, consignment, resale, dress, etc. You will save a bundle by doing research. Good luck!

I think that would be a big hit for us regular people. They could sell more magazines. Most brides would love to see ideas of other brides who are of the same class.
For me a $2000 dress is expensive.

I found the dress of my dreams in a beautiful ad in a bridal magazine. I showed it to a mid-high end bridal gown store in Miami. They ordered it for me and it was all under 2k.

It is possible.

I know it doesn't sound like the ideal... but a LOT of people I know have found BEAUTIFUL second hand gowns at places that sell once worn bridal gowns.

Those kind of magazine reveal the message, "Fantasy Wedding". It's supposed to be the creme de la creme. It's like fashion or celebrity magazines. No one really looks like that. It is what the world of media has come to unfortunately.

Democrat tax will develop have not in any respect stopped with the prosperous. They continually paintings their way right down to the middle class even as the spending turns into too a lot. Christie eliminated bloated authorities jobs that were draining the state of elements and including to the deficit. Jersey has lost over a million electorate in the previous 5 years via large democrat tax will develop. the prosperous are also those who create jobs. tax a wealthy individual extra then there are lots of less jobs that the prosperous individual can create. And a democrat's definition of a wealthy individual is amazingly fickle. My moms and dads made 100k mixed lower than clinton and owed 3k of their tax go back. lower than Bush the authorities owed them 8k. 100k kin is not regularly prosperous particularly in Northern VA the position each and every thing is extra intense priced. If Christie did not decrease expenses then the authorities might want to be compelled to maintain operating deficits elevating taxes and borrowing funds. it quite is a death spiral. The democrat party is the party of massive organisation. Obama needs monetary reform to punish huge organisation suitable? Then why does he favor them to have a 50 billion greenback bailout for larger agencies. That bailout makes expenses of interest for larger banks decrease allowing them to be safer investments. yet smaller banks, that not in any respect did anyhting incorrect, might want to get stiffer regulation yet not in any respect get the bailout and may want to not in any respect get the decrease expenses of interest, therefore the law is in elementary words to assist huge organisation. Why might want to you boost taxes in a recession. Taxes damage agencies' skill to make jobs. Obama has raised taxes on all agencies driving prices upward. Obama has raised each and every tax except earnings tax. you're paying through the nostril and also you're smiling even as the democrats do it to you. 32% of the bush tax cuts went to households making lower than 40k a twelve months. Of that 32% the usually happening tax shrink develop into 96%. 56% of the Bush tax cuts went to households making lower than 70k a twelve months. households making over 200k a twelve months were given an aver tax shrink of 9%. Republicans position self assurance in lesser taxes for all. reagan droped the right marginal tax cost from 70% to twenty-eight% and created 20 thousands of thousands jobs and doubled the revenues of the authorities. Now you've each and every of the information to understand why extra individuals are extra conservative fairly than democrat.
