If you could get a tattoo of anything - anywhere - what and where would it be? Why?

I might want to get a tattoo, just looking for ideas

Note: Please don't try to convince me not to get a tattoo! This question isn't about me at all. I'm just interested to hear what people would want if they could get any kind of body art.

I just got one of the Celtic Tree of Life (stylized) on my left ankle. I got it for many reasons:
1. It's pretty
2. It's a symbol of life
3. I love Celtic mythology (I wanted to get one of Yggdrasil, but I couldn't find a good stylized pic.)

I got it on my ankle because it wasn't supposed to be something intimate, but I did want it somewhere that could be covered up for work.

I actually found the image I used on Wikipedia.org about a year ago & fell in love with it. I just got the tattoo done last night & I'm so happy that I finally did it.

Just so you know, I'd wanted to get a tattoo for two years before I finally got this one. Now, I'm trying to decide what I want for my second one!

Edit:
For the chick talking about the "Miami Ink" tattoo parlor, that place isn't all that great. I'm from Tampa, FL & we have MUCH better places than that in Ybor... which isn't saying much.

If I could get my dream tattoo it would be done by Chris Garver and it would be a totem pole down my spine connecting the three tats I have on my back already. (both shoulder blades and lower back). I am Native Indian so I would like the top of the totem to be an Eagle with his wings spread as that is my clan. I love watching Miami Ink and I think Chris Garver does some of the most beautiful tattoos I have seen. Ink on friend.

I want to get a tattoo of a smiling sun with the word "sunshine" bc that's my mom's nickname, and people have started calling me that too (or my other nickname "smiley"- I haven't decided yet!) And I would have it on the right side of my middle-back (because I hate the idea of having one on my lower back!) so it'd only show if I was wearing a bikini or a bra! I've been thinking about getting a tattoo for a while, and probably will keep on thinking about it for a while longer! For now I wear temporary ones- yeah, kinda dorky, I know, lol! :P

I would have a ribbon. The kind that goes like a snake, Okay
maybe your not feeling me. It's were I can have my daughters
and grandchildren name in it. And I would have it on my right
leg. on my right side of my leg I already have a Eagle and it says
Harley Davidson and underneath it, it has Free Bird. On my left
leg it has a stem 2 roses and 9 leaves, with a ribbon says Mom
(with a heart) Dad. And I have my first born child's name on my
left leg. Of course you know why I would want my daughters
and grand-daughters name tattooed on me. As for the
stem rose it represents my family. both roses stands for
mom and dad and the nine leaves stand for my sisters and
myself. As for the Eagle/ Harley Davidson stands for when
I was in a freak motor cycle accident. I don't ride them any
more, but I still like them. The reason for me putting my tattoos
on my leg is because my left leg is all scared up. When I would
wear shorts people would look at my legs so I decided to
add some art to it. Now they really have something to look at,
and I can stop repeating my self why I have so many scars

I've had my first tattoo designed for almost a year, just haven't had the time to go and get it.

I'm going to get a star of david, with a blue marble effect filling it in, and in the center of the star I will have my name in hebrew. Im either going to put it on my right arm or right below the neck on my back.

I'm 1/2 israeli and proud to be israeli, so I want my tattoo to show that. IMHO your first should always be about you.

If you do get one, make sure it means something and you are sure you want it on you for the rest of your life. I got a butterfly on my shoulder when I was 18 and it seemed like a good idea at the time, not that I hate it now, but everyone has butterflies.

What I'm going to get next I'm thinking is a shamrock on my wrist with my mom-mom's name on it because she passed away last year and because my family's Irish.

I would love to go to Miami Ink and have something added to my back. I have a wizard that I drew on the top middle of my back. It's about 6" or so tall. I would love to have some sort of fantasy piece on my back that ties into it. I know it's not "traditional" for a girl to have such a "huge" thing, but I love tattoo's.
I also have a purple daisy type flower on my upper right arm that I drew and I have a tiny white daisy in my ear, on the upper cartilage, that one is my favorite at the moment :o)

I would get something that meant a lot to me, something I could hide if I needed to, like for a professional job, but something that you can show when you are out having fun! I haven't gotten one yet, but I'm thinking about waiting and incorporating my kids' names with the tattoo

I have a knight on my back right shoulder blade- it was custom designed and just the design process took over a year. Take your time, if it's gonna be on your body all of your life make sure it means something.

My daughter got quite a large one across her shoulders in her 20's. She is now in her 40's, with a very different life. She has to constantly cover it up. It no longer fits her lifestyle.A tattoo is a lifetime commitment. Please think long and hard about it.
