A member of my family is seriously considering becoming an atheist,mainly because there are web sites showing the true horrors depicted in the bible by a very cruel God.Any atheists agree?

The stories in the bible are truly graphically horrible and supposedly endorsed by their God. Your family member will not change for the worst, but by asserting a higher, kinder morality, will in all likelihood be a better person because of the freedom from religion. It is more noble to do helpful things because they are helpful than because you expect God to reward you for them in the end.

I am a Atheist.Being a Atheist does not make you good are bad your morals do. Does being a Theist makes you a good person? No. But what makes you bad/good? If you go by most religion just not beliveing makes you such a bad person that its punishable by death. Even if you never hurt anybody in any way shape or form. So morals should be based upon your own Conscience and your own experience not some book.
We are all born athheist is later is that we start belive in fantersys.
I am a athist not cuz god is life is crul or the world is not faire or cuz my like sucks I am a atheist cuz theres simply no god. Why cant ya understand or just let us have the right not to belive in lunercy. We are all born atheist. To be free you must break all your bonds god is acid. We are not lost but are free.

Being an atheist will not make a good person bad or a bad person good. Tell your family member that the real God isn't cruel. If someone want to stop believing in God because they think God is cruel, that means they don't support cruelty. Sounds like a nice person.

First of all,God is not a cruel God.He is very loving,compassionate,patient and forgiving,but He is also a just and righteous God.
Atheists are not bad people,just misguided and deceived.They do not believe in God,therefore they can't believe that satan is real,but just the fact that they don't believe in God gives credence to satan's existence,because that is satan's main goal...to deceive people into believing there is no God,and atheists have swallowed that lie hook,line and sinker.

Atheists are NOT bad people. Some of them may be that that's with all people not just atheists. A Atheists believes there is no god. That don't make them bad people. I am a Atheist and I am not a bad person. We are not "lost"! Just because a bible says unbelievers are lost don't make it true. Cause you can't prove your bible is 100% true. We have done our own research and came to the conclusion that there is no god. Does it make us a bad person cause we don't settle for the answer that "god created everyone and everything"? NO it don't it makes us smart!

I agree that the Bible has a very cruel God. I am not a bad person, in fact, I am a good person and I am an atheist.

I am not an atheist but from my understanding they just don't believe there is a God. However, I do not think they are necessarily bad people. They just have some issues that they need to work on with God that they may feel he has wronged them in some way. I just say you should not dislike them but love them all the more and pray that one day they will come to terms with whatever has made them want to choose to be an Atheist.
