The most amazing fictional story of compassion that I know of is in Crime and Punishment by Dostoyevsky.

The main character, Raskolnikov, commits murder, and most of the book is about the investigation of the murder. He decides to confess to this girl he's met through a series of really strange events. She was a Christian girl, who knew the people who were murdered. When Raskolnikov told Sonya about the murder, she started crying, and she hugged him and said, "What have you done to yourself? There's no one in the world more unhappy than you are now."
She told him that he had to confess and that she would go with him to do penal servitude.
I thought this was amazing considering that this guy had murdered two women that Sonya knew. She had enough compassion to understand how much he was suffering and that he needed her.

That's a very short version of a really amazing story. Crime and Punishment is the best novel I've ever read! If you enjoy classics, that is definitely one you should read.

My aunt Bonnie is an excellent example of compassion. She has always put herself last on the list. She has an autistic 43 year old son that she continues to care for, took care of my grandma for years and is just the true Mother Teresa of CA as far as I am concerned.

There's a story where Abraham Lincoln invited a guest, maybe his friend over for maybe it was dinner. There were a lot of people at this dinner, you can imagine a round table, or a long table, if not round. I think the story was something like you were supposed to eat very politely, but instead, the guest started eating (just think: very like, RAH rar rar rar rar rar.) I think his guest didn't know the manners or something. Abraham Lincoln saw his guest eat like that(his guest might have been sitting next to him) and then Abraham himself started going, instead of eating politely, RAr rar RAR rar rar too.

I forgave my ex-husband that left me for another woman. I never thought I would, but the Lord softened my heart. I let the bitterness go. He is in his fourth divorce. I am happily married.

The perfect one Christ, laying his life down for us - paying the price for our sins so that we could be reconciled to God.

True compassion and love.
