It's on my neck and the guy said to keep my hair off of it for 2-3 weeks.

You'll have to put it in a pony tail if it's long enough to affect the cleanliness of the tattoo. You need to keep it covered for the first 24 hours, after that keep antibiotic ointment on it. It will protect it from bacteria's. Mine all healed quickly so I didn't have many issues........just tender........

yea just keep it clean....
hair can rake it and disturb the healing process.
hair is like a big net, filtering all the air around and all the junk in it.
including germs that can get into your new tat.
you could shave your head, at least your new tat will be more noticeable.

Keep the sun off it as long as possible - it's hard, I know, because you want to show it off! but the sun can make the pigment fade. Apply lots of moisturiser.

listen to the guy! it's an open wound and your hair and all the junk in it will irritate it like crazy. use sunscreen!!!

Neosporin, and cover it if you need to but keep it aired out.
