This is to ariann and everyone else. I never said ILLEGALS. I was referring mainly to puerto ricans. When I was talking about the expensive purses and cars, I was referring to the ones who were on foodstamps. I used to work at a grocery store some time ago while in school and everyone knew that all the puerto ricans were on foodstamps, didn't speak english and had expensive cars. I also knew people who worked at the welfare office and it sickened them as well. If you are from another country or are black, you get special treatment. Case closed.

I am Mexican, and I speak six languages.

Yes, I can spell in all of those languages without a problem.

Just to enlighten your horizon, here is a quick fact.

In Mexico there are 56 native languages spoken. For many of the Hispanics here, Spanish is their second language.

Why don't you learn Spanish? That would make you a more cultured person, and at least equal what those Hispanics have accomplished.

If you spoke a second language, you wouldn't need to be jealous about their "expensive cars, jewelry and purses" because you would have a better job and you would be able to afford them.

Many of them cannot learn English because they work too many hours a day, but certainly they do pick up some English in their daily life. Maybe you should enrich your vocabulary by learning a new word every day. That way you would not sound as xenophobic as you do at this moment.

And for the record, they were all born and raised in the United States, and they speak English. They don't get jobs because they are too busy cashing child support checks and government help.

Research the facts. It is not the illegal aliens who are the biggest burden to the Social Security services. They have no access to it, to begin with.

I see italians, polacs, germans, and other europeans that have been here for many decades and still don't speak a lick of english.

Let me clarify the situation for those that only speak from what they hear on the TV. Illegals as many call them (Its funny how we don't even call murderers, child abusers illegal but we call those that cross into the US --Misdemeanor-- Illegal), do contribute a lot into the economy. Most end up paying taxes in many forms, sales tax, many illegals own homes and pay property taxes, those that make up social security numbers or use others SSN pay taxes that they never file to get refunds. Those that buy homes will fix the borrowed SSN's credit by paying off their collections and raising their credit scores so they can by homes. By working for cheap they help reduce the price of many items that we Americans use every day. You ***** about $3/gallon gas, how about $3 cabbage, $7/lb tomatoes, how about Motel 6 raising their price to $60 a night instead of $37. The fact is working Americans are getting old and many jobs are being left open. We need new young workers.Illegals put money into SS so the older americans can have health care.
Illegals don't use the health care system as many people claim. I know many that are too scared to go to the hospital or use any public aid. They will visit clinincs and pay cash or got to Catholic charities health centers and pay cash as well. The fact is that Americans themselves are draining the health care system not illegals.

Have all of them go through background checks. Those that are cleared if the can prove they have been here 7+ years and have a family would be given citizenship. 3-6 yrs given residency. Less than 3 given a work permit and have to re-apply to get it again. Guest worker program as many illegals just come to work for a few months and return. Not everyone likes it here. Deport the criminals with violent crimes.

I could not agree with you more. I fully favor allowing all illegal immigrants an opportunity to become U.S.citizens. In many ways, I very much admire Hispanic people, and I believe that we can only benefit by allowing as many of them as possible become U.S. citizens.

But we must somehow require them to learn English. I remember one time when an apartment building was on fire. A woman was screaming in Spanish. I did not know Spanish at all. I scaled a fence to see if, in spite of the huge flames, I could save someone. Someone eventually told me, in English, that she was only concerned about some stupid statue.

Requiring people who immigrate to the U.S.A. to learn English in no manner shows them disrespect.

It is hard to learn any language. The Mexicans I work with are trying to learn English but it's kind of hard when you work 16 hours a day. Maybe the government should have free classes on saturdays. Or maybe we high and mighty english speakers should volunteer our time to teach them.

You are really ignorant. How many languages do you know? Have you ever gone to another country? If so, have you learned the language before going there? Have you ever taught an English as a Second Language (ESL) class (probably not, it didn't appear that your English was so great. As a matter of fact, why don't YOU learn better English?) I know what you are saying but this goes for all nationalities many do not speak English. I think it needs to be a requirement to speak English in order to live and work here in the United States!!! If I was planning to move to Mexico or France,Germany or any other country I would make it a point to LEARN THE LANGUAGE!!!
