Yep. That is not Biblical. Only speak in tongues with a interpreter around is the Biblical command. Also the Bible does not lay any importance on tongues like the Pentecostals claim.

Yes I have had issues with this as well. Even though I speak in tongues and did attend a pentecostal church I found it a bit disturbing when there was the whole church speaking in tongues at the same time as you know what the bible says. I also felt a bit pressured by having to weigh prophecies being given throughout the service by people attending etc. Recently decided to attend a different church which believes in the gifts of the spirit but is more orderly during services. Pray about this and God will lead you where He wants you.

You might want to try a few different denominations and see if one suits you better. You will find there are quite a variety of protestant churches that share a lot of the same basic teachings, but have slightly different focus and style of worship.
It’s not that one is completely right and others are completely wrong, some just suit some better than others.
Remember that your walk with Christ is far too important to stay in a church that makes you uncomfortable or where you feel the focus is not where it needs to be. Don’t give up on Christ, just try a few different churches until you find one that feels right.
Pray about this. Ask God for guidance.

I have to preface this by telling you that I used to be a Christian, but I'm not now.
As far as your question goes, not every church is for everyone. I used to attend a pentacostal church among others. I too had a problem with their experience of tongues. If you truly feel uncomfortable with an aspect of a church, then perhaps that church isn't for you.
There are many different churches out there. So many of the churches will tell you that church x, y, or z doesn't have it right. I would suggest that you start looking around. Maybe you'll find what you're looking for in a non-denominational church. Some of them can be quite charismatic.
In the end, it's your relationship with your God that matters. The church is just the place where you go to get your batteries charged. Not every battery charger fits every battery. I think that there are many different Christian denominations because there are so many different types of Christians. Find the one that's right for you.

I'm a Christian too and it took me a while to find the right church. I ended up at a Wesleyan Church, which i absolutely love cause it's more old fashioned. I know people who are Apostolic, and they seem more into things than I am. They speak in tongues and shout and things like that, which is fine with me...but it's just not my style. It's just the way others worship i guess. I'm definitely not saying it's wrong, but i believe that God is happy with us even if our praise and worship is more quiet and traditional. It all comes down to our relationship with God, and obeying him, no matter what church we attend. But, I do think that you should attend the church that you feel most comfortable in. That was the problem i faced, but God has led me to the right place. My nephews are 5 years old, and wanted to start out going to church with us, and i think that seeing some of the things that Apostolics do would probably frighten them, and make them not want to go to church. But they love it at the church we go too. God bless youâ¥

Christianity and churchanity don't get along well together. You mentioned speaking in tongues. Tongues are languages. We hear about the tongues of fire that lighted upon the apostles and disciples up there in the upper room that Pentecost Day. This was the gift of the Holy Spirit. It was not babel that no one understands. When you hear such, rebuke the demon in the name of Jesus Christ. This is of Satan.
You open by saying you want only Christians to answer your question. Let me tell you that Christians know that this speaking in tongues is demonic and will have nothing to with it.

I agree. Paul says that tongues should not be used without an interpreter. It is a powerful gift if someone who understands the language is present, but if there is no-one, then it is just so much noise. Tongues for personal prayer is good, because it edifies the speaker and upbuilds their spirit. Tongues used publicly should be used with caution and wisdom.

I agree with you. I belong to a non-denominational church that teaches that all of the gifts of the Spirit are still available to believers today but that they all should be used in accordance with the Scriptures in an orderly fashion. Out of control Pentecostal churches remind me of this verse from the Bible.
1 John 4:1 Beloved, do not believe every spirit, but test the spirits to see whether they are from God, for many false prophets have gone out into the world.
and especially of verse 33 in this passage that you referenced in your question.
1 Corinthians 14:27-33 If any speak in a tongue, let there be only two or at most three, and each in turn, and let someone interpret. 28 But if there is no one to interpret, let each of them keep silent in church and speak to himself and to God. 29 Let two or three prophets speak, and let the others weigh what is said. 30 If a revelation is made to another sitting there, let the first be silent. 31 For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all may learn and all be encouraged, 32 and the spirits of prophets are subject to prophets. 33 For God is not a God of confusion but of peace. As in all the churches of the saints,

Speaking in tongues by yourself is intercessory prayer, the spirit knows what to pray for, in church, only if there is interpretation, or personal prayer. It is a gift of the spirit that many people shun because they do not understand it, I sincerely believe that if the Lord gave you that gift, it cannot be controlled. If if could, then is at will and not a gift.

Yes, I agree the the gift of tongues, when used in a meeting should have an interpretation if it is genuine. I do believe that people genuinely do have this gift, but maybe not everyone who says they do.
If it bothers you, I don't think it's such a bad thing that you didn't want to join that church. everyone has a different style of worship, and if that's not yours, that's ok. what matters is that we love God!
God bless you.
