I would get a 180 degree thermostat and put it in, though an engine that sits with the a/c on too long without moving will eventually get hot. New cars with electric fan won't.

220 is a little too hot-- try using a 160 degree thermostat-- have your radiator rodded out if needed. doing the 2 above should solve your problem

Check the thermostat on the radiator hose intake manifold. You may need a new one to make it run cooler. 220 is too hot.

No. Your radiator may be plugged up, your fan clutch may be bad. It is definitely not normal.

could be, but then your gauge could be off too. Are you loosing water? if not, it's probably ok :)
