Just because someone is overweight does not make them stupid and not allow them to realize their current situation. So why do other people have to be mean and call people "fat pigs" or other things? Is it just to try to hurt their feelings? I just witnessed this at work and it disgusts me at how mean and pathetic people can be. Why can't people just live and let live?

Because it makes them feel superior, and it takes the focus off of them.

2. Human nature...some say it falls back to the survival of the fittest instinct and the need for the perfect mate.

3. Some folk are jus ignorant and they wear thier stupidity like a badge.

Being that I have been fat most of my adult life I can tell the reason people do this is because they are insecure about their bodies and lack self confidence. Which leads them to thinking they need to point out that I am fat and they are not. I look at them and laugh and ask them do you think I am as stupid as you. They go what are you talking about, I then tell them I know I am fat and ask them if they know they are insecure and lacking any self confidence what so ever. They need a lesson in common sense, If I stand between two elephants I may look small , alas I am still just as fat as ever and if they stand between two rocks they may be the smartest of the three yet they are still just as dumb as ever.

Some people are mean and pathetic. You are absolutely right. They are probably the same people who call thin people derogatory names too.

Many people feel better about themselves if they can put others down. It doesn't work, but they keep trying.

I've been pointed at most of my life. Right now my weight is normal but it has a history of fluctuating greatly.
It seems that the heavy people are getting the upper hand though. They might be outnumbering the smaller people and soon the smaller people will be the ones getting pointed at.

In Texas, we call this a lack of home training. Some people lack tact and grace in social situations. They have their 15 minutes of fame by making public spectacles of themselves, mostly by ridiculing others to give some purpose to their own miserable lives.

I don't know why anyone would want to say anything to someone that is intended to make them feel bad. This is the way my mom raised me.
btw, my mom was overweight but I really never noticed it because she was my mom and I loved her more than my life.

To make themselves feel better is what I think. People are mean sometimes. Immature behavior if you ask me.
