It sounded like they were coughing up a loogie, but the bacon and egg sandwich was pretty good.

actually, several languages use that sound...it could really be just about anything...
Syrian, Hebrew, Russian (I think), pretty much anything in the middle-east.

Coughing up a loogie means that someone is coughing up a lot of phlegm, to the point where you have to spit it out. It doesn't make any sense with the second part of the sentence.

Dutch perhaps? Or Danish (wrt to the egg and bacon) - the Danes speak as if they have a hot potato in their mouth
