I got a VIOLATION because I answered a question with a one word reply "wow..." The question was obviously from a very "emotional" girl who was jealous of her bf's ex-gf. I wish I could remember her series of questions (on a single post), but it was to the tone of "is his ex jealous of me? why is she still calling him? why is he calling her? should i do something to her?" and so on. I was just taken by surprise with her questions, and rather than telling her that she might be the one who is jealous, I just remarked a simple answer to "hint" to her that she was a bit overreacting and way out-of-it.
Anyone else get these stupid violations? In hindsight, I should have answered with "you are a crazy jealous girlfriend and I hope your bf leaves you for his sake"

Well, That's stupid. I think it depends on the question, because some of the questions don't desevre more than a one word answer, they are just so out there. I would challenge that violation, that's what I did. They said I was insulting the participants because the asked a racist question and I stood up for myself. Some people just don't understand the concept of things.

I got a violation once when I thought that my sarcasm was clear but in retrospect it really wasn't. "Wow" can be taken many ways. It could mean that you agree that she's in the right or it could mean that she's overreacting or it may just mean that the question was too long for you to bother with. I think these violations are somewhat unfair but I can see how they might be determined to be "Not an answer".

WOW---- isn't that something?
Same thing happened to me. I've posted a joke under "joke section" and still had a violation. My joke wasn't even about making fun of others, or being mean to anybody. Oh well, I've learned to just let it go....
My guessing is that questioner reported you!

If your intention is not to be helpful I don't understand why you would bother answering at all. Do you really want the 2 points that badly or do you just not a life that you have to degrade others. So it is best to answer a question if you are trying to be helpful, the amount of words you use is not significant.

No, i could sense too in charge. I cant be nasty to every person! whether the guy asking the question develop into being impolite and nasty, i could write out a respond to tell them off, yet ought to by no potential pass by using with posting it as i could nonetheless sense too in charge! I consider you, one time somebody develop into nasty to a minimum of one in each of my questions... i develop into aking an hassle-free question and that they have got been truly impolite approximately punctuation or some thing... I dont understand why people would desire to try this.... :)

One word does not convey your idea or some times it gives a wrong impression. You are supposed to help some one by your answer and not to criticise the questioner.

it depends on the question - if its a yes or no type of question than a one word answer is ok - the idea is they are looking for an 'answer' so in essence, you responding with Wow wasn't an answer.. it was a comment :)

That happened to me too, my response to YA! was that in my opinion the answer I gave was appropriate for the question asked.

It's up to you. Don't worry. Don't always need to spell it out if you believe one word expresses what you want to say.
