Rule of Thumb - whenever you have an idea about what should be done to some group of people try substituted you or your group into the sentence and see how it sounds. For example: "Christians should be sent to re-education camps to cure them."

Sounds kind'a messed up when it's put that way, doesn't it?

If that were the case, then we'd have to send EVERYBODY to some sort of re-education camp because EVERYBODY believes something that is off-the-wall or different or weird to the next person...and that's not just with regards to religion, either.

Really, you can't look at Scientology as a religion. The guy who came up with it was noted to say `if you wanna get rich, just come up with a new religion'. I call that a scam. The way they get you in is to say you can be any religion here and then change all that to just being you're own God.

Why would you want to cure them? As far as I am concerned, flaky people should congregate together. It makes it easier to keep an eye on them when they are all in one group. If anything, people like them are quite entertaining. I know I laugh everytime I hear about their antics.

while scientology is easily one of the top 7 dumbest concepts under the sun, and the Church of Scientology has used blackmail, lawsuits and emotional manipulation to enforce its views, you can't just make people not believe it. that whole first pesky 1st Amendment thing sorta gets in the way.

Agree. Who gets all the money those wackos like Tom Cruise pay to the Scientology church?

If people want to follow a religion made up by a mediocre science fiction writer so that he could brag that he could get people to believe anything, I guess that’s their business.

jeepers - anyone who believes a guy who died 2000 years ago - or maybe never lived - and was born of a virgin, yet descended through her husband's line from david, is coming back, is in need of a cure.

we just can't send all religiously delusional people away.
