People always ask questions, that QUESTION the Christian faith, and all of those questions can be answered with one word..."faith"
You know, questions like "Can God really hear us?" or "Does God really exist?" ... they ask all those questions and there is the same answer for all of them... it is called "FAITH" you either choose to believe or you don't... and how you make that decision is based on evidence that can be found in one place... the bible... well, anyway, what do we say to those people? Comments?

I appreciate your understanding that faith itself is the operative word, but I have to take exception to the "evidence that can be found in one place...the bible." There are more faiths than the Christians faith and they have their own form of "evidence" that they take faith in -the Bible is not the only "holy" book among religions.

I am not Christian, but I do know one thing. People who are not Christian do not positively respond, EVER, to answers that rely on scripture alone. That is part of what is being questioned - the reliability and interpretation of the Bible. Quoted scripture is meaningless to someone who is asking questions on that level. Just thought it might help to know that...

These people need to look elsewhere for their answers. I love the Internet, it is truly a wonderful invention, but I don't think that a real and true revelation can come about here. Understanding of the meaning of God is a deeply personal thing, something that usually only comes about after much soul searching and real personal experience. Certainly, discussion is an important part of the journey of faith, but the type of anonymous, disconnected discourse that happens in Y! Answers can't really provide the right type of conversation and experience. People who ask these questions should probably seek out other people in their own communities (either locally or on the web), people like themselves you have questions they can't find answers to. Maybe some of those connections can be made here, but those answers will never be found in Y!Answers.

I think it should be noted that not everyone who asks questions about God in Y!A are Christians. I'm certain that just as many people of other faiths ask these questions as well, here and in other forums. One of the best things about the Internet is that it allows for interfaith and intercultural dialoge of these universal questions with a level of personal accessibility and global scale never before possible.

Christianity would be a lot stronger if Christians took your advice seriously.

What we get instead is mostly Christians insisting that they have real evidence, the kind that should convince people. But since they don't, they wind up saying all sorts of idiotic things in defense of a belief that in fact only stands on faith.

then why not believe in atheism on faith?
or racism?
or nazism?
or islam?
or satanism?
or communism?
etc etc
faith is the dumbest way to decide an issue
you might as well write down the answer "4" for every blank on a test or just bubble in C
the bible is one 2000 year old book that contradicts itself in numerous ways, just like the quran or the torah
to answer on faith is to waste the wonder that is the human mind, and i personally do not believe i could believe in anything solely on faith.

"faith" is a very good answer, you should get 10 points yourself. Look there are many close minded people and many people who choose to believe in other things or in nothing at all, this is America, and last time i checked, that's cool

FACT!!

Faith is not FACT!

Faith is believing in somthing in which FACT is absent, to believe with in confidence when FACT is not there, to accept something without a shread of evidence; this is the difference.

I choose FACT at least I know it is there.

Faith is a pretty personal thing, if they are doubting their faith, they are in essence doubting themselves. I suggest to people they read, and meditate on what they believe in. Their faith gets restored that way.

Sure, we follow these guidelines.

"but in your hearts regard Christ the Lord as holy, always being prepared to make a defense to anyone who asks you for a reason for the hope that is in you; yet do it with gentleness and respect, having a good conscience, so that, when you are slandered, those who revile your good behavior in Christ may be put to shame. 1 Peter 3:15-16

"Have nothing to do with foolish, ignorant controversies; you know that they breed quarrels. And the Lord's servant must not be quarrelsome but kind to everyone, able to teach, patiently enduring evil, correcting his opponents with gentleness. God may perhaps grant them repentance leading to a knowledge of the truth, and they may escape from the snare of the devil, after being captured by him to do his will. 2 Timothy 2:23-26

I believe people who consistently say " faith" is only parroting a easy answer. It's more than faith. It's a spirtiual connection and more importantly a personal relationship.
