I'm talking about international long distance relationships, and I'm thinking of passport and visa issues, in addition to the regular stuff. I'm also certain someone would have to relocate for it to work.

Any success stories?

I have a couple of stories to share, my first is that I was 15, I got a penpal from Massachusetts and at that time I lived in Minnesota, we became an item sometime later and it lasted for almost 2 years before he decided that his d*ck needed a freakin p*ssy to have fun with, none the less I dumped his azz like a hot potatoe, he wrote me the on my 17th birthday and said that he was really sorry and that he still wanted to be friends. I of course declined and no longer know where he is, nor do I care since I am marrried. So that is a unsuccessful long distance relationship that was in state. My next story takes place when I was 17. I met my boyfriend on the phone as he stayed with my then boyfriend, he answered the phone always and I hooked him up with a friend of mine. It did not work out. 3 month later I asked him out. We met in person and he was cute. We got together the day after Valentine's Day, and sad to say I was 17 and I became pregnant. I went to his home in Minneapolis, and I found out that he came to where I was in North Dakota. I found him the next day and I told i was pregnant, he was shocked. I took a blood test to confirm and he stuck around for the entire pregnancy and delivery. 2 weeks after the birth it was Thanksgiving Day, he was gone. He went back to Minneapolis without a single word to me, not even a goodbye. None the less, I found him there by telephone and we worked things out. I brought the baby to see him when she was 1 month old. We maintained a long distance relationship for about 6 years, as I went to school and he worked as a security guard. He was about 4 hours away from where I lived, we saw each other whenever possible, but it was not too often. Nonetheless we are together to this day and have 3 children (also 1 in Heaven, by miscarriage). We were able to make it work and we are now living together for about 2 years. We have our moments, but love each other very much. We will be together 9 years come February. So this is my Success story. It can go either way, whatever you decide, good luck!

Sadly, I know it can be very hard for a long-distance relationship to work. It's too much work to keep the passion alive, to remain faithful, and to keep in contact. Unless someone relocates, it'll never be as good as a close-to-home relationship. Good luck with this.
