Here is the verse
Gen 3:14 And the LORD God said unto the serpent, Because thou hast done this, thou [art] cursed above all cattle, and above every beast of the field; upon thy belly shalt thou go, and dust shalt thou eat all the days of thy life:

I don't see dust refers to death.
Also it always used to go upon its belly.

and enmity is more between it and the man not woman

It is literal and metaphorical. He is dead, he eats dust. I think so anyway.

good luck, level 1 drove me nuts... lol

to the question, not literally. the implication is that the serpent orignially HAD legs. that is, more of a dragon-y type beast.

and then, for leading eve to eating the fruit, no more legs, and compared to other animals, eating filth. think about it, how often do snakes of any scale get to eat foods that are kosher?

and remember that the original text did not specify that the serpent was "satan" or that it was evil at all.

He does.
Jehovah likened the Devil to a serpent that crawls on its belly and eats food dusted with particles of soil. Thus he indicated the deep abasement into which the cursed Devil was now thrown down.
