How would the MP know who s/he is visiting? Are not foreign women asked to wear head scarfs at formal meetings in some Muslim states? If so - well, you can make your own decision. It's a matter of social code and respecting the culture of the country you have chosen to live in. No one can take your faith from you, veil or no veil. What matters is in your heart.

Do you believe in Islam and the word of Allah, then follow his commands and protect yourself as you have been told. If you told the MP his wife would had to wear a veil what would be their reaction, so why should your reaction be different to theirs.
When you mix with people you should show respect and should be shown respect regardless of yours or the other persons beliefs.

I am not Brittish or Muslim; but in my opinion your MP will and should respect your tradition and culture. If that includes wearing a veil, I do not see why he would require you to remove your veil.
I do not however for one moment wish to indicate that personal culture and traditions of any one group should take preference, merely that we should try and accomodate each other where we can.

The veil is not a religious requirement it is a personal and cultural one. Your question says your MP is coming to see you. By definition he can't see you if you are veiled. In face to face discussion I would refuse to see you at all if you insisted on forcing your cultural preferences on me. What will happen when ID cards come in, you can't appear veiled then.
