It certainly sounds logic, propane has a much lower flash point than gasoline,so if your pickup were to totattly run off propane it would use alott more fuel to gain the power that your gasoiline would give

Yes you can run a vehicle on propane and much cleaner as well. You should not smell the propane except maybe a little on start up though. If you continue to smell it you may have a leak, get it checked. Flash point has nothing to do with your mileage in this case. Lower flash point means that it ignites at a lower temp. and concentration that's all. Your mileage has gone down because propane is less dense than gasoline. Also because propane has a higher octane you can build a performance engine that will not run on pump gasoline but will on propane meaning that you can have more horsepower in the long run. Plus propane is a clean burning fuel and with two identical engines (one on pump gas and the other on propane) the propane engine will run up to 100,000 miles longer than the one on gasoline.

your question is , well I have converted many fords to propane very good way to go and yes it can also run on gas as well but not at the same time use a switching valve and there are many propane vehicles on the road, nothing new ,it will have less horsepower but once it get going it will be fine and you can breath the exhaust fumes out of it it has no bad smog emissions, verse gasoline, but if you smell propane Don't smoke around it and have it looked at by a qualified propane mechanic

Its completely normal and alot of heavy equipment does run off of propane or has a propane injection, and some diesels have a propane injection for additional power.

You will always get less fuel economy with propane in any vehicle, but it's sometimes a bit cheaper than gasoline.
The propane is a zero emission fuel alternative, but bad fuel economy. It should not be leaking like that, though. That's not good.

yes, Some propane compaines install a kit so the motors will run off it. I don't recommend it due to it will burn valves out of it over time. I have had to replace heads on one 2 times for that.

does it have lines to the engine? if it does, I guess you can run of it, you should have a switch so you can run on gasoline if you want. I might give you more power, but if you have a long way to go, fill up both :)
It did'nt come from the factory that way, someone had to convert it.
If you don't want it, sell it on http://craigslist.org and buy lots of gas

Propane will destroy the valve seats in the cylinder head.
Better use regular fuel.

why do you have a 20 plus year old piece of junk that you still worry about the gas mileage?
take your propane and heat your trailer, get a weekly hotel in order to save on fuel costs.
and please quit paying for electric bills for those computers.
