Go to your dentist. Were these an immediate denture, meaning, did you have your teeth removed and the denture put right in after the extractions? If so, then you will need time for the swelling to go down so expect to have some sore spots. Take ibuprofen for the pain. I'm sure that he told you that you might need adjustments here & there. We always have our patients come back after a few days even if they're not in any pain. Practice speaking with them in. That usually is a big adjustment. Read a book, magazine or newspaper aloud in front of a mirror. Good luck and don't worry in time they will start to feel like a part of you.

Practice, practice, practice. If you got an artificial leg, they would send you for rehabilitative therapy for 4 to 6 weeks, so lets allow at least that amount of time to get used to artificial teeth. You're using a lot of muscles you didn't have to use before and they have to get into shape. You have to learn to chew with a little food on the right and a little food on the left. Just remember that millions of people have made this difficult adjustment and you will, too. Looking back in a couple of years, you won't even remember how difficult it was.

it may take awhile for you to get used to them. they should fit relatively good when you first got them. if they dont then talk with your dentist so they can adjust them. a good fitting will have them feeling almost like your own teeth. its possible that you may need a reline to get it right.I got mine through a dental college and they did a great job. They are 2 yrs old now and they fit great.Hang in there. It will get better with time. note: I don't care what they say on those denture commercials....I still can't eat an apple.

I'm sorry to be so ignorant, but are you afraid of your dentist? Just because he has a big needle? Why did you not get the info from him/her? And, kissing? I hardly think you need to worry about that when you gotta worry about denture stains!

I don't know how long you have been hurting, but call your doctor. You may just need a minor adjustment or you may have an infection which needs to be treated. It is very important to let your doctor know how uncomfortable you are. Until then, a pain reliever such as advil and rinsing with salt water will soothe your pain.

Kissing will be just like normal so don't worry about it. Good luck! CALL YOUR DENTIST!
