I would try a glass of milk, preferrably warm. Melatonin supplements work great being that melatonin is the chemical secreted by the brain that makes you drowsy. However it make linger longer than you want. 5-HTP will also work good. Unisom or medicines containing diphenhydramine like benedryl and tylenol PM are rather effective sleeping aids. Alcohol will make you tired, especially wine but you dont want to turn into a dependant alchololic just cuz u want to sleep. Weed will put you to sleep but of course its illegal and if you're caught buying it, you'll have a harder time sleeping in jail or thinking about going to court. If all fails, prescription sleep medications from your doctor such as ambien and lunesta are extremely effective but are habit forming after about two weeks and could cause sleep walking and amnesia if you're not used to this type of medication. Ambien is notorious for sleepwalking, sleepeating, sleepdriving, etc...so take caution. Good luck

Insomnia (sleeplessness) is due to stress, dietary and medical
problems. By making small lifestyle changes like having a fixed
daily routine, relaxing and eating properly, insomnia can be
cured. I found the information at http://tinyurl.com/jfzpz useful
for getting sleep.

Try a nice warm bath to relax you and sip some chamomile tea it helps you rest.
or some warm milk and honey. Or a light snack like a banana or something like that. If you are older maybe the doctor can give you some sleeping tablets.

oh, i just asked the same question last week. so far i have tried sleeping pills, valerian roots and melatonin.
sleeping pills are addictive. valerian roots are a kind if herb tablets, it doesn't work for me. melatonin is not bad. its some knid of plant extracts and it really does help me sleep. but i have been feeling tired during the day, so i am trying to find out if its because of the melatonin.

Have you tried the old basic, hot choc milk & cookies ? The sugar crash should kick in at about 15 to 30 minutes.

Meditation and visualization. Imagining EVERY LITTLE DETAIL! Just as if it were the real deal; and work it out so that you will fall asleep in the state of manifesting your dream goal.........
