Sure. As long as he isn't carrying it everywhere he goes. I had a stuffed Snoopy that was my security. I slept with that doll until I was 21 yrs. old. I couldn't sleep otherwise. I still have it but I don't sleep with it. My husband had a stuffed koala that he had to have near his bed at night until he was like 19. I had a boyfriend in high school who was 16 and had a stuffed bear he slept with.
Many, many people have security devices, whether they admit it or not. It just isn't appropriate to carry it around.

I have 5 children and some carried until 6 or 7 but at 12 they should be secure in the person they have become enough so to ditch the blankie. Unless there is an underlying experience that the child has been traumatized by or still is. In which case get him to open up and talk or seek a therapist or maybe even try new activities such as boy scouts or the Big Brother program.

Why is it ok for a grown woman to still sleep with a teddy bear but a 12 yr old boy has a blankie and it's an issue? It's FINE! Things could be a lot worse. As long as it doesn't interfere with his day to day life, let him have a lovie!

Are you serious? and your 12? no, no, no! you need to definitley pack that thing away and just not think about it. sorry to be harsh but 12 is way to old for a blanket my friend. i mean i guess it's cool if you just sleep with it, that's fine, why not? but definitely not for any other reason! my advice, pack it up somewhere and keep it there untill you forget about it.

Well, my stepson lived with us when he was 14, he had some kind of stuffed animal he would hide when his friends came over.
One day one of the friends found it and laughed, saying he slept with one too.
And my son bought a giant Tigger at Disney when he was 12.
So, I don't think it is that abnormal.

Maybe to sleep with, but certainly not to drag around like Linus from the Peanuts cartoon.

Yes, if it is comfortable for him to have it then yes I think he should have it for as long as he needs it, he will probably give it up when he discovers girls.
