I am in marching band and volleyball. I think in the future I will be on varsity, the varsity team is one of the best in the state. but our marching band isn't. I really like both volleyball more though. They go on during the same time. But I don't know which to choose because I really want to do both.

Well, you should always choose the one you're more passionate about. And say you do volleyball this year, and you miss out on the marching band, then next year if you really wanted, you could do band instead of volleyball and trade off.

But if it's really bothering you, then go talk to your school guidance counsellor and the coaches and tell them about your problem. You never know, maybe they'll work something out for you.

I'm also in vb and play trumpet in band, and I'm currently in the school play and scholastic bowl. I love all of them, and yes it's hard to keep up with it all. Our marching band is extremely good and we even got compliments from a visiting football coach. Our director pushes the bar for us every year and we go above and beyond every time. Our varsity team is also good, but this year they've had some problems. Last year's team was conference and regional champs, and I think that in my varsity years we can meet that.

It just depends on what you want to do with your life. If you want to play vb in college, then stay in vb now. If you want a music major or something, stay in band. I want a music/acting major, so I'm going to keep being involved with drama and band, and will join chorus when I have room for it. If I don't make volleyball next year or the year after, I won't have a huge problem with it. I'm a good player, but I highly doubt that I'll get a scholarship or anything. Just do what you think you want to do.

If you really like Volleyball more, go with Volleyball. I played sports and worked on my music during high school. I played Volleyball in the Fall and played in a local orchestra in the Spring. I have never regretted the time I spent playing sports. I have played Volleyball for my college and performed musical recitals in the same year.

You can really only answer this yourself. Volleyball keeps you in shape and is really fun to play. Band on the other hand, might be fun to you too. You really just have to pick which one you could see yourself enjoying for a long time, and not giving up on. In the end, you will choose the right one.

Think of it this way...even if you don't make varsity would you still want to play volleyball? I choose volleyball till I found somethign I loved even more and I was even better at. Both offer a lot of fun and good times and pottential long time loyal friends you have to decide which one is more rewarding for not necessarily which you are better at. Good luck.

I was in that problem this year. I had to pick cause I had to much going on. Of course I picked volleyball cause I was falling behind in school and band. When I was in band Everybody had different classes each year but I got stuck in the same in stead of having different classes. In band I couldn't read the notes and I wasn't having fun cause none of my friends were in band so it was a bore. So I want and chose which one will I enjoy most and will It bring me a future and I also chose by who was the better coach or teacher. It was hard and I picked volleyball cause it was so much better then band cause you got reconized by your good work but in band nobody cared. I hope you make the choice that you want to make. :-)

i would choose volleyball, since i am a volleyball player, but you should truly choose which your more passionate about.

also, i might note that if your marching band is anything like our school's, it drains up a lot of your time. i heard they practice on saturdays, and every weekday, some of them not coming home until eight or nine oclock!
goodluck!

I had to make this choice one time. I chose athletics, and I really do regret it now. Sports gave me a lot, and I was really good, but the fact is, after college there's not a lot you do with sports. If I had stuck with music it would still be with me and I would be an accomplished musician, not a former musician - a musician.
If you're good in music you may be able to take lessons privately so that when you get to college you can do both again. I wouldn't tell you to choose one over the other, but do consider your future as well as the present. Good Luck.
