Modern English you idiot. Everyone knows that the irony and sarcasm can only be understood correctly in the tampered English versions. Come on how many people can read hyro.....erm how to you spell it again, thingy-me-bob, these days.............hugh, get with the times! Its all the FSM monsters word anyway even though I have just written another version in Scottish whisky induced slang. Augh the arrogance of some people!

The text is pure because the FSM has personally drowned any foul ups in Ragu. You either get it right when you work for His Noodliness, or you're pasta tense.
As for the hieroglypics versus modern English, this is a complicated arguement which has plagued scholars and laypersons for years. My personal philosophy is that if hieroglyphics were good enough for King Tut, they're good enough for me.

I prefer the version that was first translated into Greek, then into Hebrew, which of course is read backwards, then placed in front of a mirror and translated into pig latin using Yahoo's Babel Fish program, and finally into paraphrased English set forth in Dr. Seuss rhyming and rhythmic schemes.
And it's always best with extra Tabasco.

Personally, I would want a translation straight from the original text. Even then there would be a bias from a translator that would have to be dealt with.

What I found to be more interesting was the fact that the Harri Krishna texts make absolutely no mention of what they did to the Pirates. It was terrible, so I guess they just ignored it.

Personally I only trust the original pirate texts.... It's too bad none of them could write.
