Well, Ted, apparently you are not bright enough to find a club w/o our help. So I am going to suppose that you just want help with being dominant. I am a female, 5'2". I was walking my Rott, and this Boxer broke thru his fence, snarling and growling at me and my poor lil tiny baby (lol) and I had a knee-jerk reaction - I pointed my finger at the Boxer and said NO! as loud as I could, and he backed up a little, then I stepped closer and yelled NO! again. He RAN back into his yard! This was a dog that had harassed us many times by lunging at the gate and scaring the crap outta me. I was surprised, but now, being a fan of the Dog Whisperer, and also because I love dogs so much, I realize that WE have to be the dominant PACK LEADER! You don't need a stick. I am assuming you are a male type person, so, you have the advantage even over me with loose dogs. They are a pain in the **** tho. Call the cops on the neighbors. They will have to pay a hefty fine! Have a nice walk, Henry.

Quick_Sand - YOU are a dominant female? From WHAT tribe?? Your ignorance of animals is showing.

I've always found a well designed sturdy branch from a tree works great.
As for the at large dogs, contact your local animal control and report the dogs running loose. Maybe they have tags and if impounded the owners will have to pay fines to reclaim the dogs. Nothing teaches some dog owners better than reaching into their wallets.

pepper spray would work as would several other things. Call the animal control in your neighborhood and report the dogs that are running loose. Amonia mixed with water might work also. DO NOT try to carry anything that would kill the dog or you could wind up in trouble loose dog not withstanding.
Good luck.

go to wal-mart and get an aluminum tee ball bat, Nothing comes close in my book. You can beat anything, and you will get some dents that's it and since there built for lil kids then they are REALLY light. Thats what i would personally do. If u think that is to big, then there is a website call cheaperthandirt.com and you can get an extending club, just like the knew cop knight sticks they slide down inside itself so its like 8 inches long and has a pouch, then with a flick of the rest it extends out to 18 inches. Plus there metal.

Oh my god you should ring the pound or ranger if you have been attacked before and make the owners of those dogs keep them restrained! I have seen people walking around our town with rolled up newspapers or small branches off trees to swipe, or you could even use pepper spray

Pepper spray, Walmart even carries it.

Ravin - "- I pointed my finger at the Boxer and said NO...He RAN back into his yard!"

Yes, this can often work. But if a dog is intent on doing harm it is NOT going to stop him! You should not think this will work for every dog, because it WON'T!

I used to take a baseball bat. I had pitbulls coming after me and my dogs. I carry pepper spray, but I wouldn't advise using it on a windy day, the wind might direct the spray in your direction and you and your dogs will get blasted instead. I sometimes take a squirt gun.

Forget the light club. Buy pepper spray. It will work much better and you'll have less of a chance of being bitten.
