The Bible states that Jesus went to visit the dead, where he preached to them.
In the Apostles' Creed, there is a part that reads: "he descended into hell", it is based on the New Testament statements on the descent of Christ, after his death on the Cross, into the "region of death", into the a abode of the dead", which in Old Testament language was called the "abyss".
If the Letter to the Ephesians speaks of "the lower parts of the earth", it is because the earth receives the human body after death, and so it received also the body of Christ who expired on Calvary, as described by the Evangelists (cf. Mt 27:59 f, and parallel passages; In 19:40-42).
Christ passed through a real experience of death, including the final moment which is generally a part of the whole process: he was placed in the tomb.

Matthew 12:40, “...so shall the Son of Man be three days and three nights in the heart of the earth.” The use of this word heart meant the interior of a thing or of being in it. Here it is referring to the tomb he was in.
Nowhere in the Bible does it say that Jesus went to hell during the three days. Actually, very little is said about what went on. The normal assumption is that Jesus' fleshly body remained in the tomb, just as ours will remain in the grave. He went to the presence of the Father, and three days later the Spirit resurrected His body (in the same way that our bodies will be resurrected—the first-born from the dead in Col. 1:18). The difference is that God did not allow Jesus' body to decay (exactly the promise found in Psalm 16:10

According to the bible and faith, you can only be live it by faith,
Jesus went into hell, he preached and beat up Satan, and took the keys of death, hell and the grave.
When Jesus was resurrected, the graves were opened and people were seen walking on top of the graves.
That was the first Resurrection.
Jesus tomb is empty, hes gone, and he sits at the right hand of the Father,
Jesus, loves you, he did all that, just for you.
So you need to do according to the Bible, and ask Jesus to come into your heart, so your grave clothing will come off, and you can see the glory of God through his death.
Then you will get the meaning of it all.
Its not a myth, its life, or death.

He did nothing. He could do nothing, as he was dead and laying in his grave. He had not power to do anything. He couldn't even visit the fallen angels to make God's final declaration of judgment, until after he was resurrected. This should be an example that none of use to anything by lay in the grave until one of the two resurrections.
The Bible shows there are two types, coming back as a human, as happened with Lazarus, and coming back as a spirit, as happened with Christ.

the same thing that happens to all that die His spirit went back to God luke 23:46 and his body to the ground Ecc12:7 and he fell asleep he died on good friday rested on the sabbath and rose on the first day. we all sleep untill the resurrection if you read in gen 2:7 God formed man out of the dust of the ground and breathed in to him the breath of LIFE and man became a living soul. Body plus spirit = soul body - spirit = the sleep of death its like a bulb + electrisity = light .

I had heard this but no one has told where it is written in the Bible.
Why would the Apostles' Creed include it?

He preached the gospel to the captives in prison; those who were being held in "Abraham's bosom" until the Messiah's death on the cross (Jesus) opened heaven.
