It will vary by artist, locality and amount of competition in the region. I have a 2"x3" Celtic design on my shoulder that cost $150 plus tip. I'd say many artists charge by the amount of time it takes them to complete the design.... mine was $50 per half hour, I also went to one of the top artists in the country (unknowingly but thrilled to find out) so his time came at a premium. Visit a few shops, talk with the artists, most of them are really cool and are willing to work with you, remember its not like buying a car though. Pay a little extra for better work, its going on your body FOREVER!!!! Talk to people in the shops who have had work done there, that is really the best way to find the right place for you to have your work done. Good luck, hope this helps, and be sure to eat a substantial meal about an hour before you go!!

The prices range for things like design, size, colour etc. Most places charge on average 100 per hour. They usually have a minimum charge for small tattoos, usually 40 or 50 bucks. Check around, talk to different artists in different shops. Do your research and you should be able to find a shop, tattooist and price that your happy with. Ink on my friend, I have 13 tats and counting.

It really depends on the shop and the artist. Different shops and different artist have different price ranges. I had a friend of mine do all of my tattoos and he did work at a tattoo shop but quit. He done by out of his own house and not at his shop. I got a large size butterfly with blue and purple wings and red hearts in the wings. He charged me $25.00. (I also got other tattoos) For the same tattoo I checked at other shops and they wanted $80.00$95.00 for it.
I used to work in a tattoo shop but no longer do so. When I have the extra free time I still do tattoo work at my house on my own time. I charge lesser then tattoo shops charge. If that is something you are thinking about PLEASE make sure the artist is clean, clean needles and everything. Other wise get it done in a tattoo shop which you also need to make sure they are clean too.
The best way to find out is go into the shop you plan on getting your tattoo done, let them know what you want and ask for a price range. Most shops will not give you price ranges over the phone but some will.

it depends on your tatooist and what you are getting in the way of colour and detail so your best bet is to go in and ask once you have picked out your design
