it may be that religious people want to remain innocent, ignorant. they do not want to have to think about things too much so they follow some of the edicts out of an ancient book. they don't want to control themselves like responsible adults. if they want 5 or 6 babies their god daddy tells them it's not only okay but it's their duty to make as many babies as possible. well, like children they don't want to think about the fact the ancient book thier taking instruction from was written when the Earth was nearly empty of humans. and living only for their here and now they don't want to deal with the fact that nowadays the Earth's resources are being stretched thin. the more babies they make the more people have to be supported, not just by them but the planet. myopic, shortsighted, selfish. and egotistical too thinking their genetics are so important that they need to be replicated a 1/2 doz or more times.
and if you dare mention the fact that humans are as prolific as rodents these egotists get indignant as if over running the planet with more humans than can be fed, housed and educated is a holy mission. oh and too bad about the other creatures that call Earth home. they'll just have to move out, go away, die off, live in a zoo because the human species is too stupid to quit over breeding.
