I'm getting bleach and a cut, but no style or blow dry. He is doing it at his home. What should I tip on a $85.00 charge. he is licensed and normally works at a prestigous salon. i'm probably saving $30-35, but like I said no style no blow dry.

Just give him a ******** for the blow dry, and let him tea bag you for the style. If he's gay, just lick his butt.

Maybe give him an even $100 and say keep it. I mean you are already saving $30-35 AND whatever you would be tipping whoever at the salon.

One thing I always wonder about it what to tip the owner of a salon if they are the one doing your hair. I mean, they are getting ALL of the money you give them not a percentage...

The tipping rule for 'discounts' on most services is to calculate the tip (15-20%) based on the regular price... not on the discounted price.

Plus he's your neighbor... not some stranger. So be generous.

I think it all depends on how convienient you think it is to be able to go there to get it done vs. going to his shop or another shop. As well as the quality of the cut/bleach. If you are happy and it is more convienient, then tip well, if not then don't tip and go back to your reg place.

Good luck!
