Mexico is not a poor country, is a very rich country. This is the reason why I get so mad when the people of Mexico have to cross the border into the USA and some times die in the border. What is bad in Mexico is the government for the corruption and inability that they have to govern the country in benefit of the Mexican people. Mexico is a beautiful country with a lot of culture, very old, good and friendly people but very poor. It's a shame what is happening to the Mexican people here in the USA and in Mexico and the government of Mexico don't do nothing about it. I'm against the invasion into our country the USA of illegal aliens coming from any country but when they come from Mexico I get mad and it hurt me inside of me knowing that this is a great country, rich and their government don't do nothing to stop their miseries. It's a shame for Mexico and the USA.

Mexico is actually an upper-middle class nation. It is not yet a fully industrialized country but they are definitely not the poorest country..

The US just happens to have more illegal immigration from Mexico because of location.

I've been to the Philippines and its pretty bad there too, but like Kay said there are american cities that would make the average person shiver. The poverty is stark and abject. You dont have to go very far to see what mankind has done to itself. Sort of changes the "kind" in mankind. Over half the population on the planet lives in abject poverty. Thats more than 3 billion people, you kind of have your pick as to where to look to see people suffering and dying in horrendous situations.

I think that you need some geography lessons, Mexico is country that has problems like many other countries. Just look at you "America" many cities like New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, etc have serius poverty and crime problems.

Mexico is not that bad off. That is why it has illegal immigrants from countries to the south of it, and doesn't treat them at all well, either.
