They're works displayed publicly all over the place.

No. I suppose they had better not ever take a trip to Washington D.C. either. The Supreme Court house had plenty of Greek and Roman inspired sculpturing and yes there are nudes.

There is a vast difference between showing the human body for physiology or art as opposed to pornography (and even in some eyes done right that is not wrong). I think people really need to be educated as to the differences.

No! They are works of art that portray the beauty and art of the human body! Shame on anyone who denies someone of that taste of culture.
HOWEVER
It depends on the age of the students seeing it. I would not suggest it for anyone younger than a freshman in high school because they really aren't emotionally ready for it. They'll just giggle. It depends on the class. An AP History or English class? Most definately. Even non-accelerated. It's such an amazing taste of culture.
I'm a junior this year, and this summer I'll be going to Italy. I'm so excited to see that art. Art touches some and it sickens others. That's really nobody's place to say. Shame on anyone who fires someone because they are trying to culturate their students. In fact, culture should be taught, I plan on teaching it.

I live in North Texas, and no, I don't think that this teacher did anything inappropriate. I think it was one over sensitive parent who didn't want to have to explain the birds and the bees to their child. My child can look at all the nude works of art that they can show him, and if he should have questions, well...I'm also a nurse. Its not like I've never explained it be4.

I would use some discretion with very young children, but the master pieces are shown, as you said and children of appropriate age should see them. I believe that no teacher should be fore because they have chosen to expose children to the arts.

No. They are classic works of art.

However, it might not be wise to show these works to young children. There still is nudity, and they would not be able to fully appreciate the artistic quality yet.

I say save it for at least junior high.

Are you referring to the recent case in Texas where the teacher was canned for walking her students past a nude sculpture? It's absolute madness. If I had my way I'd shitcan every dolt on that school board that decided to fire the teacher. They are the ones that are truly sick.

And all the parents that aren't speaking out in support of the teacher should be ashamed.

NO, but the teacher should consider the age and maturity of the students first.

I would think that these would be approved school curriculum, so I don't understand why a teacher would be fired for exposing (no pun intended) students to art.
