As a future parent, I would not allow my children use the website MySpace.com because I have heard that the website is not very safe to use and people post a lot of personal information about themselves.

Here's my take: If you are a responsible parent and monitor your child's internet access and know who they talk to, it would be ok. The amount of law suits that have been brought against myspace, in my own opinion, are those of the parents that did NOT do that with their children. If you think myspace is a bad place for children, make sure you block www.lostcherry.com This site allows full on nudity and it's free for members 14 and up.

All in all, it comes down to responsible parenting. My children aren't old enough for that quite yet. However, I do know there are ways to make it difficult for just anyone to find your child on myspace without the proper requirements.

i am a parent of a 5 year old son. I think that no one should give out personal info over the net to anyone.

I have myspace myself but i got it to just talk to my friends and i have it set to private which means no one can see it but me and the ones i want to see it. I see nothing wrong in it cause i am not on there talking to anyone i don't know and i am not stupid like some people that tells where they live and so on.

Nothing on the internet is safe if you are dumb enough to give out your name and where you live or your phone number. If people would use common sense nothing bad would happen over the net (that is what i believe)

I wouldn't want my son on the net at all until after he turns 16...I never got onto the internet until i was 16 myself.

It tells you right on http://www.myspace.com not to give out any personal information. How hard is that for someone not to do?

It comes down to common sense and some people on myspace (both kids and adults) gives out too much info.

My 13 yr old daughter has a myspace, but I have talked to her about watching who she talks to on there and if any one say anything inappropriate to let me know right away.Kids know more than I would like for them to know, but you can't shelter them from the world. As much as I would love to.My kids are very smart and I trust they will always make the right choices on things. As far as myspace having people putting much personal information out there,They hear the same things at school,my kids come home telling me the things these kids say and it blows my mind,

Myspace should be for older kids/young adults. A child in school has no reason to use this, all their friends are at school & live around town, they can connect with them in person. They don't need to meet people they don't know, they have plenty to do already. Keep myspace and stuff on the internet off limits, the internet should only be used to research stuff for school.

My 16 year old has a myspace but there is NO personal information on there. I check her myspace site frequently and if I see anything that shouldn't be there (which I have one time) I discuss it with her & we "correct" it. I don't see anything wrong with it as long as it is monitored. If there was ever a time that she abused it it would "go away"

Soon the myspace frenzy will die off. I think the site is fine if used responsibily and with supervision. There are settings on there to protect everyone from everything. You control who is friends and such and even a setting so no one can become a friend unless they provide your last name. These are all preventatives from strange people gaining access to people's pages without their consent.

As a parent, I have familiarized myself with myspace and IM so when my kids want to start using this technology, I will be able to guide them rather than them doing it and me having no clue. Proactive parenting is successful parenting.

I wouldn't let them use myspace. It is a waste of time. I would rather spend $300, and buy them a guitar or drum set. They would be able to play as loud as they wanted to as well.
