Especially african american hair. I'm thinking of doing it after not doing so, in a while and I just wanted to make sure, it would be pretty ok. So, does it help the hair in being and growing healthier, with the proper amount of moisture applied? Or does it completely destroy it? Any amount of information is helpful. Especially for my type of hair.

yeah, 'cause I used to do it on my own, but, it never worked out because my hair eventually got back natural within the day, and I've never done it without ,moisture and the most I've pressed my hair is twice a year, so, it's very rare for me.

We african americans have some of the most fragile hair. Any kind of heat used on the hair is damaging. I know that you, just like the rest of us, want to have that long straight healthy hair, so if you decide to use heat on your hair I suggest you don't do it often and when you do use heat apply a curling wax to help protect the hair. Dry hair breaks easily and heat dries the hair out. USE HEAT SPARINGLY!!!

Everything damages hair - solar, wind, warmth, tanning compartments, the whole lot. But what you'll do is do weekly deep conditioners, and use well product. I realize African American hair has a tendency to be dryer and extra brittle, however preserving your scalp greased and perhaps you'll check out redkin's all delicate heavy cond. (cant recall if it is referred to as butter deal with, both method it is the heavy one. My buddy that is African American says it really works fairly well on her hair.

do this first, take a poll. Ask people around you what they think about your hair. We all assume we would look better if we looked different. Try to honestly look at your own features as some one else might. You may be going to a lot of trouble and actually look worse. Good luck

If you do it daily. Heat destroys hair, then you will have to add moisture to it. Anything excessive is damaging.

If you have a good shampoo and conditioner, it shouldnt ruin how your hair looks. But it's not good to press your hair, as your basically just burning it.
