Here's one I often like:
1. What's your passion/calling? (not job, different things)
2. Are you doing that?
3. Why not?
I've taken some people aback with that, but I've gotten some interesting answers.
Opinion grabbers are good. Things like:
Do you think a man or a woman should pay on a date? Or both? Why?

ask them "r u ok? is something bothering you?" and get into their pasts while sharing things about ur past...that way u r connected on a deep level and can figure out things about yourselves as well as each other and ull understand eachother better....lol at least that what i do...and it works...usually
