LOST their minds?! My friend, they never had them in the first place. This is yet another shining example.

You are assuming they had a mind to begin with. I think they are all sharing one between them. This type of thing is really silly. Those parents knew where those kids were going... parents have to sign permission slips and each slip tells you exactly where they are going. Instead of blaming the teacher, they should be looking to themselves. They can not claim they were ignorant of nude art in a Museum. All museum's have nude art in them, somewhere. It would be a sad thing if they held to firing that teacher. I think that if parents don't want their kids to know about the real world, then they should remove them from public school. There are religious schools that will accept their children and follow by their personal guidelines. Or they can home school. But frankly, I'm tired of hearing about how terrible the public system is, when we have this kind of thinking of the people who are claiming to "set the standards" for the rest of us. If I were that teacher, I would fight this every step of the way.

I asked a question about this too when it first hit the news on my local news site. It is ridiculous. One, children can't be taken out of school for field trips without parental permission. So what did that parent think they were going to see at an art museum? If they gave permission for their child to go then that should have been the end of it. Secondly, it sounds as if this were a staged witch hunt so to speak. What easier way to get rid of someone you don't you like.
Kids see far worse in television and movies than they ever will at an art museum. Next thing you know, they will petition to have clothes put on David and the Venus de Milo.

"The Frisco school board suspended McGee, with pay, on Sept. 22 for the remainder of the school year and the superintendent has said he will recommend that her contract not be renewed. District officials have vigilantly maintained that the decision stemmed from separate personnel issues and not one child's exposure to a nude artwork, which has never been identified."
I tend to think there is more going on here than meets the eye. I doubt one complaint brought about her dismissal. I think the parents should have been given the option to pull their child from this field trip if they thought it would be offensive or inappropriate.

i did not advance up contained in the interior city, yet even as i develop into going to college in a small city in Arkansas, we discovered about personal funds in abode economics and corporation instructions. i imagine that such instructions must be necessary, because like you've stated, there are a number of babies who're "thoroughly unprepared for the pitfalls of the line basically before them". through the way, i love the "Smiling Bob" labeled classified ads! I distinctly like the only the position he's on an organization vacation to Japan.:)

Fired over Art, why are those people so weary of the human body? Do they look away when they are showering? Say No to the return of the dark ages. Who is contolling these Public Schools. We already are the 44 rank nation in academics.
But I don't know the whole story, so maybe she did other things, maybe not. Dunno.

Ugh. Amazing the variety of things people can close themselves off to in the name of religion. It must be a terribly boring and repressed life.

These parents are the prudest of the prude! I feel sorry for the child. They will not have a healthy view of themselves or of sexuality in general.

I wouldn't jump to the assumption this teacher is telling the truth or that the teacher is lying. Don't distort what the article says to benefit your view point.

Another teacher was fired for showing students an opera. These people are nuts and need to be kept out of education. They do this kind of garbage all the time. From banning books from schools to this kind of crap, they need to keep their stupid fantasy out of schools.

That had nothing to do with religion. That was one crazy parent who was offended that their child saw a penis.
