it could be alot of different things, fleas, allergies, ringworm, etc. Check her for fleas...lots of cats are allergic. Is she scratching this area, does it seem painful, or ithcy? Is it scaly...if so might be ringworm. You will eventually have to take her to the vet if it worsens and to get a proper diagnosis. You can't really treat her until you know WHAT the problem is first.

Some times it is diet. I had a labrador who could only have dog food with lamb and rice. It could also be an allergy to her enviroment or food. That's why my dog lost a lot of her hair. Do some research on the internet and see if you cant find an organic treatment. And most allergy meds that humans use I know dogs can have, I would assume cats too. Trial and erra first I would take note of her condition and symptoms. Everything Just take into account her size compared to yours with any meds! Good luck and hope she feels better. Does she have fleas? It could be what's making her loose her hair also. equal parts white vinager and water sprayed on the cat and problem areas everyday should do the trick. Hope everything turns out okay with Symba

She may have earmites. Look inside her ears and if you see a black substance use a swab to gently remove it. If it looks similiar to coffee grounds, it's earmites.
Try to clean her ears with an ear cleaner to remove as much as you can. Then apply some mineral oil into the ear. Gently rub the outside of the ear to move the mineral oil down inside the ear. This is no guarantee, but at least it will provide some comfort for her until you can get the money for a visit to a vet.
Search your area for a low-cost clinic, some shelters and vets offer this service.

Your cat may have a numerous amount of things that it could be the cause of that. One common thing is cancer, or tumors, they can cause hair loss. It can sadly cause the cat to die, and as for that going to a vet wont be any use, they will tell you the same thing, but you would have to pay for it though. another thing could be fleas give your cat a flea bath, and flea comb her, and keep giving her a bath every week and flea comb her everyday, after about three weeks if the hair has grown back, then it was fleas, but if not then it may be cancer, or tumors. I hope that it is only fleas.
Good Luck!

Watch to see if she is scratching her ears. She may have a skin allergy. Could also be ear mites. Just watch her and see what her behavior is. Check out a site called Foster and Smith. I think they have a secion in there where you can ask a vet. Or check out some other vet sites. I'm sure you can find some useful info. that may help.

If you love this cat, give up the smokes, the drinks, the fancy clothes, the morning coffees, the lunches and dinners at the local pub and get your poor little cat to the vet!

Without more symptoms I can't really give much advice, but I would think maybe from scratching the fleas, or possibly ringworm....are the patches where the hair missing a greyish color or raw? If it is raw it could be the fleas, the greyishness could be ringworm(which is NOT a worm, it is a fungus)

I would need more info to help. Has she been in a fight? Is she an indoor cat only? Is she vaccinated?
write me at fierequebecoiseauusa@yahoo.com I can try and help you free of charge but I do need more info.
It could be caused by stress, is she an only cat or in a multi cat household?

I would advise against owning a pet if you can't afford to take it to the vet regularly, let alone if anything unexpected should come up like this.

If you don't have enough for a vet, then you SHOULD NOT OWN A PET! I notice you have enough for the Internet, huh! Go away.
