I am 24 years old and 5'6" tall. I have had three kids, before my first pregnancy I was 165 lbs and now I am 200 lbs. I have been overweight pretty much my whole life, even in 9th grade at 5'4" tall and 140 lbs I was big. Should I be shooting for the mid or high range of my healthy BMI? I have pretty dense bones and am fairly muscular in build. So I'm not really huge all over like you would expect at my weight, I just have problem areas like my stomach and thighs. Do things like that change what you should weigh?

Yes, as some people actually do have a larger structure their healthy weight may be higher. Personally, I am also 5'6 and I have large bones and muscular build like you do, my Doctor did a BMI on me and said my ideal weight is approx 147LBS.
So if you are trying to lose 50 pounds, I reccomend making small goals for yourself like to lose 10 pounds per month or something of that range, because thats just over 2 pounds a week. Remember to drink lots of water with lemon, and Green tea will help with reducing water rentention and speed ur metabolism up a bit. Have a couple cups per day!

Yes, Because i am 5'9 an i weighed 135 before i had my first child now i am 215. You are short so you probably should try to lose more weight. My stomach and my thighs also has most of the weight. The doctor told me that i should weigh 135. Know i am a little over weight.

First goal - get back down to 165, then try for 130. You're too young to be that heavy - you're setting yourself up for serious health problems - diabetes, high blood pressure, etc. Think of your kids! "Big bones" is just an excuse. Eat healthy (and LESS), get on the treadmill and drink lots of water - nothing to eat after 7pm! Good luck and Stay Motivated!

BMI is bull-shiz, never, ever go by it. If you are muscular, than your BMI will be off.

I say just try things like running, yoga, and light weight training. Eat healthy, just cut out some fatty food, not all of them. If your happy with your weight don't try to be an size 0. Just be active to loose 20 lbs and go from there.

I am an inch shorter than you and my high weight is listed at 150. So given that, I would say that anywhere between 120 and 145 would be good for you. But to be sure check out the below website.

I'd say aim for about 160 again. I had the same thing happen to me after i started taking a certain medication. Since you're a bigger build you don't wanna look sick. But you should definately try to consult your doctor 1st.
