you back off....... let her know you are there if ever she needs you... tell her point blank you refuse to be a part of the stress and pain .... if she is worth waiting for and giving her space, tell her that.... kiss her cheek, hug her, tell her she has your number, and then gently close the door.... that is about all you can do.... God bless

I'm sorry to tell you this, but she is basically saying "she's just not that into you."
There is actually a book that exists that was written by a man for women titled "He's just not into you" and it explains to women how to read the signals on when a man is losing his interest and would like to move on.
The same advice could be used in reverse for a man who cares about a woman.
I know it hurts, but if she is allowing her ex to affect her stress level, it means she still cares for him. Put yourself in her situation........would an ex you DIDN'T care about affect your stress level? Probably not.........unless they were stalking you.
People lose interest in relationships. Sometimes the feelings are all one sided. It hurts and it's sad, but it happens. Unfortunately, I've been hurt many times, so I do know how it feels, so I'm sorry.
You are probably a really nice guy, so don't waste your time on this girl if she isn't interested in you. Maybe the problem is that you are actually showing her too much attention. If you back off, it might just make her realize that it is actually YOU she wants. Don't be too easy. Be a challenge. Girls love that!
Good Luck!!

She may be dealing with stress from her x. But if she was interested in you she would quickly forget about her x. Sounds to me like she doesn't necessarily want to be alone, but more that she doesn't want to be with you. Sorry, move on.

i'm sorry to say this - but it sounds like just an excuse - if she really wants to be with you , nothing would put her off!

Be a friend to her.
It sounds like she needs one right now.
