Yes. Prisons exist to protect society; their purpose was not intended as punishment. While inmates should not be given luxuries, spiritual equality should be allowed. As long as ministers are allowed to bring bibles in for inmates and priests are allowed to give last rights, kosher meals should be given as well. If any inmate is expected to give up the right to practice religion, then NO religion should be allowed.

Yes, but vegetarian meals meet that requirement. Muslim inmates, too, can eat vegetarian meals if they prefer only halal foods. I have no problem with the inmates refusing to have meat on their plates.
I do not think they should have specially prepared meals made available for them.

Definately. Everyone should have the right to the fundamentals like food, clothing, air and shelter. They should also be able to practise their religion, have a right to education etc to live a full live.
Sure, they commited something really horrible like murder, but the death sentance is better than life imprisonment. They know they've got no purpose, no future and no anything to live for. Why deny them the right to practise their religion too?

I beleive any inmate should still have their freedom to worship in any way they choose, and if abiding by dietary regulations respects that then i see no reason for the prison service to remove the privelage.

I think they should eat whatever everyone else gets. Our tax dollars go toward housing and feeding them and giving them cable. There are too many of our citizens who have none of the above to make me feel comfortable. I think if someone is on death ros he should only have a year at max to get his retrial and then should be put to death. That would take care of some of the overcrowding in our jails and perhaps allow us to refurbish some of them to allow for housing of the homeless. If taxpayer dollars can go to pay for the scum of society why can that money not be used to help the homeless. The jail birds have access to a library and can be taught skills to manage themselves in the outside world. Why not the homeless?

Yes. Even if a person has broken the law in some way, that person's spirituality must still be respected.

Nope. In prison you lose your right to freely practice your religion.
Just as there are no vegetarian meals in prison, nor should there be any kosher ones.
