Seriously, when i was 8-12 years old - half an hour seemed like a lifetime. I remember looking upon 2-3 hours of waiting as almost what i percieve to be a whole day as my current self.

I'm 21 now and damn the time just goes by too fast. I look at my Dad now and he's 47, it only seems like a few weeks ago that we celebrated his 40th and soon before i know it - it'll be his 50th.

I wonder if every generation felt like this - or if time is in fact speeding up in proportion to the universe expanding. Outlandish theory, i know. But still, could someone explain the mental effects of age and why it makes us percieve the passage of time as shorter as we get older.

It's just really getting to me - every day that passes is a missed oppurtunity and there is simply not enough time to follow all the paths i wish to take. It sucks that you have to pick one path and go with it no matter what. Time just doesn't allow second chances.

I really hope there is life after death.

I see i'm not alone - but i'd hate to think that my full potentail has only one lifetime to fully flourish. Why are we here if we only have such a short ammount of time to maximize our potential and make use of it? Surely some other place exists when we die.

There are two things at work here. First, the way you view the world. When young, you simply don't have half of the things on your mind that you do now. If you remember your youth, you'll agree that you certainly didn't have a list of bills, work, school, etc. on your mind. You also didn't have a whole weeks worth of things to do. Even when homework gets bad, it's nothing compared to a full work week. Add all the other things involved with being an adult and, well you know. I do hate to tell you that it get's worse. If you do a good job of finding well paying work, you can plan to retire early. This requires skill and a bit of luck, but it's worth a try. Make all your money now so that you can play when you're in your 30's -yes it's possible and well worth the effort, but it means all work and very little play -hard to do at 20. Many of my relatives did this and go out and have a grand time in the RV's now.

The second thing at work is that yes time here on earth is moving faster. You probably won't get scientists to verify this, but many in spiritual areas agree, time is changing and fast. The beauty of it -which may ease your mind- is that we'll be moving into a time where many of the things that used to be important will fall away and we'll have more time for following our own paths. You won't have to wait for your next life times, pick your top ten things, work for now to create a financial foundation and in ten or so years you'll have 30, 40, 50 maybe even 60+ years to enjoy many paths. Even if it takes you 20 years to create that financial foundation, you'll still will have plenty of time.

So, don't fret. You'll get used to the hectic pace. Generations before you have and with a little planning and some wise saving and you'll have a lifetime to remember.

I'm 20 and I feel the same way. I think everyone feels this as they get older though. There could be several reason for this. Maybe you are sleeping longer now than you used to. Also, the internet makes time go by so quickly. I'll wake up on Saturday and get on the internet and before I know it, it's midnight. The feeling of time's speed varies depending on what kinds of things you are doing. If you're sitting at home watching TV or on the internet all day, then time is very quick. If you're working and doing things that you don't always enjoy, time feels slower. In the novel Catch-22 there was a character who strived to do things that he hated. He felt that that was the only way to live a longer life. Suffering makes time slow down.

YES I do agree that time goes faster as you get older! I am 40 now and weeks seem to push into months too quickly. That doesn't nessecerally mean that your missing out. if you feel you need to make changes in your life do it sooner rather than later that's all. work out what you want to change and get on and do it. Don't hold back if you feel what your doing is not right for you as people change as they get older and you get a different view on life. Just follow your heart.
I think there is life after death and we move onto a better place when it's our turn, and our lives are mapped out for us but we just don't know where it will take us. Hope this helps

Time does look to circulate quicker as you become older. yet hi, your purely a teenager. whilst i replaced into 21 it felt like the top. At 40 i theory this is the top. i'm now fifty 3, and only had an afternoon of all days celebrating my mothers 83rd birthday! As we become older time passes extra with out postpone using fact we've extra to do, and extra issues to think of roughly. relish your existence, take great thing approximately it.You do get 2d opportunities, yet each and every each and every now and then they arrive too overdue. whilst i'm 80 5, you would be a similar age as i'm now, and could in all possibility be answering a similar question to a diverse 21 12 months previous. what is going to your answer be?

Maybe seek out an answer to that last sentiment...

Yeah, time does go faster as one gets older...and I'm not even anywhere near OLD yet! I'm scared to think about how much faster it'll be going in the next several decades.

I think time goes faster as one gets older because of proportions. Think about it: if you are two years old, one year is HALF of your life!! That's a LONG time.
But if you're 25, one year is only 4% of your life...a pretty small percentage.
Add that to the fact that one gets busier as he or she gets older (up to a point, of course), and it's no wonder that time zips by.

Plus, there's the whole theory that time's a dimension...but I don't even have all the fact and ideas about that, so I won't try to explain it!

Thank God, I am the only who think of this things. I always remember a verse of the Qur'an which says: What is the life of this world but play and amusement? But best is the home in the hereafter, for those who are righteous. Will you not then understand? (Surat al-An'am: 32).

Time goes very fast, Imagine, its like Yesterday we started our fasting, but today we are at the 18th Day of Fasting.

The Only Option now is to look forward to the next life, because In the Qur'an, the last remaining authentic revelation which guides humanity to the true path, Allah repeatedly reminds us of the temporary nature of this world, summoning us to clarity of mind and consciousness. Indeed, wherever we live, we are all vulnerable to the devastating effects of this world, a self-explanatory phenomenon for people who observe life and the happenings around us.

I can personally say that as I have gotten older time has seemed to speed up and slow down for me. When I was young it seemed to go slower than when I was in like high school and college. Since I graduated it seems like it goes really slow, I still can't believe I was still swimming at the pool only acouple of months ago, it seems like it was forever ago.

Time is definitely going faster and it will speed up with every generation. It is actually a sign of The End of Days...I am glad that you have the courage and good fortune to face that reality.

The question is, now that you realised what is happening, what do you do about it?

Settle down, my dear, settle down. Of course time seems to go faster. It always does. Every generation notices it, and accepts it and moves on. When we're children Time is either with us or against us. There's no middle road. It's only when we become adults that we "notice" Time and begin to flow with it. Treat every day as the "last" and see how much more you appreciate life. Blessings.

This is an effect of not being present in the now moment. Preoccupation with the past and the future waist the only time we have to be happy, now.

When we come too, time has passed without our being aware of it.
Love and blessings Don
